Xuanwen Beasts are dark beasts that inhabit the mountains of Chenyu Vale in Genshin Impact. They are known to be the servants of Adeptus in ancient times, tasked with vanquishing evil and protecting the Vale’s regions.
However, they transformed into these aggressive creatures after the Adeptus they served passed away. Slaying these Xuanwen Beasts rewards Travelers with Feathery Fins, Lunar Fins, and Chasmlight Fins, which are used as enhancement materials in Genshin Impact. Crane's Echoing Call is one of the weapons players can farm these beasts for, especially if they need to use it with Xianyun in Genshin Impact.

Break the Benighting is an achievement in Genshin Impact that appears after players destroy all seven miasmas in Chenyu Vale.
Xuanwen Beast Locations In Genshin Impact
There are a total of 33 Xuanwen Beasts in Genshin Impact, and Travelers can locate them at:
- Mt. Xuanlian
- Chizhang Wall
- Yaodie Valley
- Mt. Lingmeng
- Chiwang Terrace
Mt. Xuanlian
At Mt. Xuanlian, players can locate four Xuanwen Beasts in Genshin Impact. Three of the Xuanwen Beasts are on the southeastern island of the Mt. Xuanlian southwestern Waypoint, and one northeast of Mt. Xuanlian.
Chizhang Wall
In Chizhang Wall, there are 22 Xuanwen Beasts, which can be found:
- Seven southeast of Chizhang Wall southern Waypoint.
- Three south of the Chizhang Wall Statue of the Seven.
- Four Xuanwen Beasts north of the Chizhang Wall Statue of the Seven. Defeat them to acquire an Exquisite chest.
- Two south of Chizhang Wall northern Waypoint.
- Two near a Jade Incense Cauldron puzzle north of Chizhang Wall central Waypoint.
- One Xuanwen Beast is trying to attack the Hilichurl Camp east of Chizhang Wall eastern Waypoint. Slaughtering all the enemies at the Camp will reward Travelers with a Precious Genshin Impact chest.
- Three inside Huangcong Grounds, beneath Chizhang Wall. Defeating them will reward players with an Exquisite chest.
Yaodie Valley
In Yaodie Valley, Travelers can only locate one Xuanwen Beast on the mountain east of Yaodie Valley Waypoint. After defeating it, a Pyro Whooperflower will spawn in Genshin Impact. Beat it to get a Common chest.
Mt. Lingmeng
Northeast of Mt. Lingmeng southern Waypoint, Travelers will find two Xuanwen beasts in Genshin Impact.
Chiwang Terrace
Four Xuanwen Beasts can be found at Chiwang Terrace in Genshin Impact. Two south of the Chiwang Terrace eastern Waypoint, and two at the northern mountain of Chiwang Terrace.
Xuanwen Beast Drops In Genshin Impact
To upgrade Xianyun’s weapon Crane's Echoing Call, Travelers must collect Feathery Fins, Lunar Fins, and Chasmlight Fins from vanquishing Xuanwen Beasts. To acquire the higher-tier drops, the enemy must be:
- Any level: Feathery Fins.
- Level 40+: Lunar Fins.
- Level 60+: Chasmlight Fins.
Upgrading Crane's Echoing Call to level 90 requires:
