The newly debuted version of the samurai RPG was handled by Nixxes Software, a Sony subsidiary from the Netherlands that previously handled five other PlayStation PC ports. Ghost of Tsushima Makes History As Sony's Biggest First-Party PC Launch

Some 24 hours after Ghost of Tsushima surpassed Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered by this metric, it also managed to leap ahead of God of War. Specifically, the game hit 75,065 concurrent Steam players circa noon ET on May 19, improving on the record set by the 2022 God of War port by a bit over 2%, according to data compiled by third-party tracker SteamDB. The open-world ARPG didn't lose any steam over the following two hours, with its all-time player peak sitting at an improved 76,035 as of this writing.

Helldivers 2 is the only PlayStation-published PC game that ever had a higher popularity peak, boasting 458,709 concurrent Steam players shortly following its February 2024 debut. But with that hit shooter being made by the independently-owned Arrowhead Game Studios, Ghost of Tsushima still has the bragging rights for achieving the biggest-ever launch in the history of first-party PlayStation PC ports.

All of this is in spite of the fact that Sony delisted Ghost of Tsushima in 180 countries and regions ahead of its release. Had that not transpired, the samurai ARPG would have ostensibly beaten God of War by an even wider margin of concurrent players. Although no official sales figures have been disclosed as of yet, an aggregate of four third-party estimates from Gamalytic, PlayTracker, SteamSpy, and VG Insights suggests that Ghost of Tsushima may have already sold approximately 272,000 copies on Steam.

While Sony has yet to reveal the next step in its PC publishing push, one recent report from a prominent leaker suggested that God of War Ragnarok will be the next PlayStation game to reach Steam. Taking that claim at face value, the purported port might be announced at the next PlayStation Showcase, which Sony recently hinted will happen in the second half of May 2024. Other than God of War Ragnarok, the Japanese gaming giant is still sitting on a number of popular titles that are yet to reach PC gamers, including the Demon's Souls remake, Bloodborne, and Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

In the late 13th century, the Mongol empire has laid waste to entire nations along their campaign to conquer the East. Tsushima Island is all that stands between mainland Japan and a massive Mongol invasion fleet led by the ruthless and cunning general, Khotun Khan.
