One of the most useful melee charms in Ghost of Yotei is the Charm of Futsunushi, an item that, when equipped, makes it much easier to perform parries, perfect parries, and dodges. The charm can be obtained by completing the Faithful Leap Shrine, a shrine that players can visit very early in their playthrough if they know where to go.
This guide covers the Faithful Leap Shrine’s location, provides a detailed, step-by-step guide on how to complete the shrine, and explains how best to use the parrying charm that will be obtained as a reward. Here’s the breakdown.

Faithful Leap Shrine Location
The Faithful Leap Shrine is located in the eastern part of the Tokachi Range in Ghost of Yotei, in Hidaka Grove right next to the Twin Ponds of Hidaka, east of the Nikkapu River. Reaching the Tokachi Range does not require completing any main missions in Ghost of Yotei, as players can simply take the road east through the Serpent’s Pass to go there.
From Haranui’s Rest Inn, the major hub in Tokachi Range, head northeast to find the Nikkappu River Altar of Reflection, then head directly east to find the Faithful Leap Shrine entrance.
It’s possible to mark the Faithful Leap Shrine’s exact location by using Atsu’s Spyglass to look northeast from the Haranui Inn’s Entrance (shown above).
How to Climb the Faithful Leap Shrine
Enter the Faithful Leap Shrine and jump across the small gap.
Hold R2 to hook the grapple to the tree branch, then press L2 to take a firm grip on the rope. Pull back the Left Stick (L) to tug on the branch, breaking it off to create a foothold you can jump to.
Jump across the gap by hooking onto the next branch, then use the hook again to climb on top of the next platform.
Turn right, then jump across the gap towards the rope with the red and white cloth. Press R2 when the prompt appears to latch onto the rope with your grapple. Then use the Left Stick to climb up.
Walk along the rope to the far edge of the chasm, then jump across to the branch (shown above) to reach the next platform.
Use R2 + L2 + Left Stick to break a branch from the tree on this platform. Jump on the branch, then leap across to the next stone platform. Follow the route to the bamboo stick bridge, and jump again to reach a cave entrance.
Squeeze through to enter the next section.
Right next to the shrine gate is a stone frog statue, and to its right are some ledges you can climb, illuminated by a stone lantern.
Cross the large chasm in the next area by walking across the fallen log that acts as a bridge.
Before the log bridge and to the left is a small cave entrance you can squeeze through to reach an area with some coins and flowers you can get.
Turn left and walk up the mountain path towards the large tree near the top.
Jump towards the tree and press R2 to swing across by using the grappling hook, then press R2 again to catch the rope.
Go right, then leap towards the tree branch, then jump again to reach the stone platform. Use the bamboo bridge to reach the next branch, then jump to climb on the hanging bamboo pile.
Walk on the bamboo bridges to the left, and climb up the stairs to reach the next section.
Use the bamboo bridge to advance, and follow the path until you see trees with red and white flags. Jump and use the grappling hook three times to climb on top of the rope connecting to the next area.
Break the tree branch above you by pressing R2 + L2 + Left Stick. Jump on top and then jump again to the bamboo bridge.
Follow the narrow path, and jump again at the end, pressing R2 mid-leap to hook onto the tree stump. Climb up to the next area.
Stand at the shrine gates and look down and to the left to see a rope leading further in. Walk across to the branch, then jump and use R2 to hook onto the next rope.
Drop down to the thin wooden platforms and leapfrog right. Use the hook twice to latch onto a tree stump sticking out of the cliff wall.
Walk across the bamboo bridge, climb up to the rope, then walk across to the far side. Jump and hook the second rope. Walk across and hop onto the stone platforms to the right.
Climb up, then squeeze through the gap to reach the Faithful Leap Shrine.
Faithful Leap Shrine Rewards (Perfect Parrying Charm)
Bow down by swiping down on the touchpad to obtain the Charm of Futsunushi. The effects of this charm are as follows:
Parries, Perfect Parries, and Perfect Dodges are easier to perform.
The Charm of Futsunushi also pairs well with the Bounty Master Armor, as the parry timing window increases stack when both items are equipped.
This is a non-upgradeable minor defense charm that is easily one of the most useful charms in Ghost of Yotei. It increases the timing for the parrying and dodging window across the board, making it possible to perform these actions even if players are slightly late or early when pressing the button. This comes in especially handy at Hard and Lethal difficulties, since this timing window gets shorter and stricter at higher difficulty settings in Ghost of Yotei.
