Ghost of Yotei receives a new update from developer Sucker Punch, addressing more of the game's remaining issues and flaws. Since its launch on October 2, Ghost of Yotei has been getting a steady stream of smaller updates and hotfixes to help iron out the game's problems.
The amount of hot fixes and updates that have launched already may be a bit surprising, considering that Ghost of Yotei has been extremely well received by both critics and players. In fact, Ghost of Yotei has already hit a major sales milestone, passing $2 million in sales just 3 days after the game's initial launch on the PlayStation 5. It would be easy enough for Sucker Punch to just sit back and celebrate the success, but the studio has instead kept working in an effort to continue improving the experience for its player base.
Ghost of Yotei: Who Are the Yotei Six?
Who are the Yotei Six, the mysterious villains that drive the revenge story at the heart of Ghost of Yotei? Find out here.
The latest hot fix comes a week after the previous Ghost of Yotei update and continues the trend of resolving somewhat rare, but no less problematic issues players have been experiencing on occasion. Once again, multiple potential crash triggers have been fixed, while a substantial number of bugs have also been addressed within the game's various missions. Fixes range from major issues like blockers to minor adjustments like NPCs getting stuck in the environment or a bug that prevented Digital Deluxe owners from unlocking the Black Ghost mask.
Another update has also been made to The Kitsune’s Fate in Ghost of Yotei, one of the final missions in the game. While Sucker Punch previously fixed a potential bug that could hard lock the mission, this update replaces a placeholder asset that was placed along the main path, likely something that the studio likely didn't really want players to see.
These updates are only the first phase of Sucker Punch's post-launch plans. Although the studio hasn't discussed any major plans for a potential story expansion down the road, the studio did tease the return of the fan-favorite Legends multiplayer mode for Ghost of Yotei. The mode will be added for free in 2026, bringing back the co-op gameplay with 2 story and 4 survival missions. Players can select from 4 character classes as they take on huge demonic versions of the Yotei Six.
