God of War is getting a live-action series on Amazon Prime, and while the show is likely a while away right now, it's a compelling prospect. Over the years, God of War has quickly become one of the most influential franchises in gaming, and that success has led to a series adaptation.

Right now, there's no official cast set in stone for the God of War series, but one of the biggest questions is who will play Kratos. Finding the perfect actor for Kratos is definitely no easy task, but thanks to the recent third season of Reacher, the best actor possible may have been introduced. Dutch bodybuilder Olivier Richters played the role of Paulie in Season 3 of Reacher, and he may just have what it takes to bring Kratos to life.

Spoilers ahead for Reacher Season 3.

The God Of War TV Series Should Hold On To This Cast Member

Any GoW adaptation that goes Nordic has to keep a hold of this voice actor, who already has an established presence onscreen.

Reacher Season 3's Finale May Have Opened the Door for a Great Kratos Actor

Paulie Was a Juggernaut Who Met an Early End

  • Paulie dies fighting Reacher in the season finale.

Reacher and Paulie going head-to-head was like watching two beasts fighting. Like two tanks, Reacher and Paulie put up a strong fight, but the former ultimately got the upper-hand, killing Paulie. As a character, Paulie had potential as a long-running villain, but his exit from the show could actually be far better in the long run. Olivier Richters is a hulking individual, and it's easy to imagine him taking on the role of God of War's demigod protagonist.

Season 4 of Reacher has been confirmed.

Olivier Richters' Stats

Height

7 feet, 2 inches

Weight

350lb

Age

35

He's clearly built like a demigod, so it wouldn't take too much imagination to find him believable as Kratos. Whoever is cast as Kratos in the show needs to be able to put up a good fight. Kratos is a powerful fighter, and the brutal showdown between Paulie and Reacher could be a fascinating preview of what a live-action Kratos fight could look like. With his stature and physicality, Olivier Richters seems like a shoo-in for the role. Even better, his age is gold for casting directors. At 35, Richters could easily play Kratos for years.

It's already been teased that Amazon is thinking long-term about its God of War series. Showrunner Ronald Moore recently revealed that Amazon has already ordered two seasons of God of War. If Richters were to be cast, his age would make him a great choice if the show were to get several seasons beyond that.

God of War is far from the first video game to get a live-action series. HBO's second season of The Last of Us has just started, and season two of Fallout is currently filming.

Paulie's Death Could Be More Than it Seems

This is purely speculation, but it's possible that Paulie may have been killed because Amazon might already be eyeing Richters for the role. He's clearly already on their radar, since he's had a significant role in one of the streaming platform's most prominent shows. However, this could be thinking too far ahead. As interesting as Paulie is as a character, he meets a violent end in the books, as well, so his end was inevitable. Regardless, Richters now being a free agent is exciting, and his exit from Reacher will hopefully lead to bigger roles.

Right now, there's no way to know what the God of War show has in store. Live-action video game adaptations are all the rage right now, and with God of War already being a cinematic experience, it will be fascinating to see how the live-action series succeeds at making it feel fresh while also honoring the source material.
