To celebrate the franchise's twentieth anniversary, Sony and Santa Monica Studio are giving away a free God of War avatar to all PSN users. The process for claiming it is relatively simple, although the codes needed to do so vary from region to region.

The following guide contains step-by-step instructions on how you can claim your free God of War avatar and also how to use it. There's no word yet on when these PSN codes will expire, but franchise fans should probably still act quickly to avoid disappointment.
How to Get a Free God of War PSN Avatar
In order to claim their free God of War 20th Anniversary avatar, PSN users will need to make their way to the PlayStation Store tab of their console's dashboard and then click on the three dots icon in the top right-hand corner of the screen. From there, they'll want to choose the Redeem Code option and then type in the relevant twelve-digit code from the table below into the redeem window. It's then just a simple case of pressing the Redeem button.
- Go to the PlayStation Store and navigate to the More menu by clicking on the three dots in the top right-hand corner of the screen.
- Choose Redeem Code.
- Type the free God of War avatar code that matches your region into the box.
- Click the Redeem button and then select Continue.

How to Change PSN Avatar
After claiming their free God of War avatar, players will probably want to know how to use it. Thankfully, this process is also quite simple. They'll need to go to their Profile and then press on the little pencil icon on the right side of the screen to edit it. On the next screen, they should choose the Avatar option, which will lead them to a page showing all of their available avatars. If the God of War avatar isn't at the top of the list, they can filter by Premium Avatars by using the R1 button to switch tabs, which should make it easier to find. It's then just a case of clicking on the avatar and selecting OK to confirm the change.
- Go to your profile page by clicking on the avatar in the top right-hand corner of the home screen.
- Click on the pencil icon to edit your profile.
- Navigate to the Avatar menu.
- Click on the God of War avatar.
- Select OK.
