Summary
- God of War Ragnarok will require 190GB of storage space on PC.
- For comparison, the PlayStation 5 version was only 84GB, nearly half the size.
- The PC version of the game will include NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS support, along with unlocked frame rates and improved graphics.
God of War Ragnarok is coming to PC later this year, and players will need a considerable amount of disk space for the Norse epic. PlayStation gamers gave God of War Ragnarok rave reviews when it first launched in late 2022, praising it for its refined gameplay, impressive graphics, and emotional plot that saw Kratos and Atreus challenge the gods of Asgard while uncovering their destinies. Following rumors, Sony announced that a PC version of Ragnarok was finally coming on September 19 during a PlayStation State of Play livestream back in May.
The God of War Ragnarok PC port is being co-developed by Jetpack Interactive, the studio that brought the previous God of War title to PC in 2022, and will include NVIDIA DLSS, AMD FSR, and Intel XeSS support, along with unlocked frame rates. Last winter’s God of War Ragnarok: Valhalla DLC is also included, but this port isn’t without its potential downsides. A PlayStation Network account is required, meaning that gamers in certain countries might not be able to play God of War Ragnarok on PC.
Sony recently shared the technical requirements for the upcoming God of War Ragnarok PC port, including which GPU and CPU models will be able to run the game when it launches on Steam and the Epic Game Store in September. Among these specs is the game’s file size, which weighs in at a hefty 190GB. In comparison, the PlayStation 5 version of God of War Ragnarok was only 84GB, nearly half the size of the upcoming PC port. The PS4 version was slightly bigger at 118GB, but this is still much smaller than the soon-to-be-released PC version.
God of War Ragnarok PC File Size
- 190GB
The previous God of War game was 70GB on PC, itself much higher than the nearly 45GB PS4 version. God of War Ragnarok’s beefier file size on PC could be the result of improved graphics, which Santa Monica Studio says will bring players closer than ever to the action thanks to higher resolutions and smoother framerates.
God of War Ragnarok was already a massive and technically demanding game on the PlayStation 5, and PC owners will need to clear up roughly 106GB of storage space if they plan on picking up the upcoming port on September 19. Those who pre-order the standard or digital deluxe editions of God of War Ragnarok on Steam or Epic Game Store will unlock the Kratos Risen Snow Armor and Atreus Risen Snow Tunic cosmetics at a certain point in the game’s story.
