Gran Turismo 7 will release a new free content update today that adds four new cars, three new World Circuit events, and a few other special features to the racing sim. There are already more than 540 cars that players can drive in Gran Turismo 7, and this newest update will bring the vehicle roster to an even greater height, including two newly revealed concepts for the Chevrolet Corvette.
There were already a hefty number of cars available at the release of Gran Turismo 7 in March 2022, with more than 420 options to choose from. Since its early days in the late 1990s, the series has built up a reputation for realistic driving physics, huge vehicle rosters, intuitive customization and tuning tools, and attention to detail in its presentation of individual cars.
Gran Turismo 7 Adds Four New Cars
Now, the PlayStation Blog has announced that the next free update for the latest mainline entry in the racing sim series, update 1.62, will be launching today, August 27, at 7 PM ET / 10 p.m. PT. Players will be able to get three of the new Gran Turismo 7 cars exclusively by buying them from the Brand Central area. These three new cars are the luxurious '26 Afeela 1 and two conceptual electric hypercars: the '25 Chevrolet Corvette CX Concept and the Chevrolet Corvette CX.R Vision Gran Turismo Concept. Chevrolet unveiled both of these Corvette models earlier this month during Monterey Car Week in California. The Afeela 1 was also unveiled at that event as the first production model in the series, following the brand's reveal at the previous year's showcase.
In addition to those cars, the new update will also add one older model with the ’02 Renault Avantime 3.0 V6 24V. An unusual combination of a sporty French coupe and a more spacious minivan, the version appearing in the game will be based on the vehicle's Japanese release, which sported a more powerful 3L, DOHC 24-valve V6 engine than its French counterpart's 2L turbo. Originally released in 2021, the Avantime meets the qualifications for inclusion in Brand Central but can also be purchased from the Used ars shop, making it a potentially good value car for Gran Turismo 7.
Players will be able to take their new Gran Turismo 7 cars out for a spin in three new events that have been added to World Circuit: European Sunday Cup 400: Circuit de Sainte-Croix – B Reverse, Japanese 4WD Challenge 600: Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta, and World Touring Car 900: Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps. The update also adds a gorgeous view of Tokyo Bay as a featured Curation in Scapes, and adds Japanese Racing Pioneers to the Extras Menu for players at Collector Level 33 and above.
