There's a wealth of playable characters in Granblue Fantasy: Relink, giving players plenty of options when it comes to finding a particular fighting style or the perfect group to take on specific missions. Every character has their own strengths and weaknesses, and it's up to you to figure all of them out.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink – Best Early-Games Skills To Unlock As Soon As Possible
There are several vital early skills to unlock in Granblue Fantasy: Relink; here's a list of the best fans should get first.
While the Captain is a perfectly competent character in their own right, you'll likely want to start using the other characters you've unlocked with Granblue Fantasy: Relink's Crewmate Cards. Variety is the spice of life, as they say, and if you can't figure out how to switch characters, here's a short guide to help you out.
How to Change Characters in Granblue Fantasy: Relink
First, it's important to note that you cannot switch characters while on a quest. Unlike other ARPGs, Granblue Fantasy: Relink does not allow players to freely change who they control within their chosen four-person party. If you're playing alone, the only character you can control is the party leader, AKA the first person on your Party list.
To do this, open up the Pause menu, and select Party. Then, change the character at the left-most slot to switch out the current team's party leader. You'll know it worked if the character you're controlling in hub areas changes to whoever you selected on the party screen. Keep in mind that while you're playing through the story campaign, you have to keep the Captain in the party, even as just a support unit controlled by Granblue Fantasy: Relink's AI.
How to Switch Between Captains
Speaking of the Captain, what many players don't know is that you can actually swap between Gran and Djeeta at any point in the game without having to adjust anything in your build. If you want to change your preferred Captain for any reason:
- Go to the Party menu
- Select any party member slot
- Select the Captain
- Press 4/Y/Triangle to enter the Character Details screen
- Press 4/Y/Triangle again to open the Character Customization screen
- Select your preferred Captain, their color scheme, and costume
As of writing, character customization in Granblue Fantasy: Relink (outside of picking different colors) is only available to the Captain and Siegfried, with the latter being able to wear his helmet. It's unknown if other characters will receive costumes of their own, though these may come as DLC packs. The developers do plan on supporting the game post-launch, and one major update is already scheduled for April.
