The big April patch for Granblue Fantasy: Relink brought with it two new characters; one of which is Tweyen, a magic archer with a very high potential for ranged burst damage. She offers a totally new playstyle that fans of stacking mechanics are sure to fall for.
While Tweyen may not be among the best characters to unlock early in GBF: Relink, she's still a must-have for those who want a strong ranged fighter in their team. If you're looking to try her out for yourself, here's how to play Tweyen as well as a quick guide on how to build her right.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink — Tayu'Itar Boss Guide
Fighting a Tayu'itar in Granblue Fantasy: Relink can be messy, but you can easily take one down once you know where to hit and who to bring.
Granblue Fantasy: Relink — How To Play Tweyen
Tweyen's is a burst-oriented character. She doesn't hit as quickly or consistently as Narmaya or other similar Granblue Fantasy: Relink heroes, but her signature attack, Multilock Hail, is capable of dealing incredible bursts of damage when it's fully loaded.
WIth that being said, your job is to stack Multilock Hail as quickly as possible, so it can unleash its payload more often. Multilock Hail consumes stacks of Ultrasight when used. These are gained by attacking or using offensive skills.
Attack Combos
You can perform a Combo Finisher and Power Finisher after any of Tweyen's basic attacks. If you want to stack Ultrasight quickly, perform your finishers after the third basic attack. You'll often get two Ultrasight stacks after the entire combo.
Performing a finisher after the first basic attack in Tweyen's string causes her to dash according to your movement input. Meanwhile, finishers after the second attack in the chain launches fans of arrows in a wide arc. The former is great for repositioning, while the latter is good for dealing with groups or for dealing damage up close.
Best Tweyen Skills in Granblue Fantasy: Relink
One of Tweyen's go-to skill setups for boss hunting is as follows:
- Lethal Rain
- Depravity
- Clincher
- Peerless Eye
Tweyen's abilities synergize with the number of debuffs on enemies, setting her apart from other ranged GBF: Relink characters like Rackam and Eugen.
Her Depravity skill unleashes a torrent of arrows that can inflict four debuffs if the skill is channeled completely. Additionally, the Clincher skill hits harder based on the number of debuffs that a target has. Use Depravity first, then immediately follow it up with Clincher to deal massive damage. This combo is very strong, but it comes with one major catch: Depravity's cooldown is extremely long. On the flip side, you'll likely clear quests before Depravity can become available again. Use this combo at the start of every fight.
Lethal Rain and Peerless Eye help stack Ultrasight faster. The former is an AOE damage skill with high stun, making it a great complementary ability for the party if you don't have someone like Vane to do the stunning. Meanwhile, the latter grants Tweyen the Stoutheart buff along with Deadshot, which makes Combo Finishers generate Ultrasight stacks. Valiant Weave and Wheel of Death can replace Lethal Rain based on player preference.
Best Healers In Granblue Fantasy: Relink
Every good RPG party needs a healer, and thankfully, there are more than a few characters in Granblue Fantasy Relink who suit this role.
Two-Crown's Strife is similar to Depravity in that it inflicts debuffs for Clincher to take advantage of while dealing immense damage on its own. It has two major drawbacks: it can only be used once, and it only becomes usable after approximately two minutes upon starting a quest.
Merculight is a good self-buff that offers an overall increase in DPS. However, Peerless Eye is often the better option since it allows full-charged Multilock Hail to be used more frequently. Tweyen's Damage Cap values are also noticeably low — if you don't have any Damage Cap Sigils in GBF: Relink, then you may want to steer away from this skill.
Tweyen's SBA grants her the Bring The Thunder buff, which causes her next offensive skill to Paralyze enemies. For the most optimal combo, use her SBA first, then follow up with Lethal Rain, Depravity, and Clincher.
Best Sigils For Tweyen
- Dark Huntress' Warpath
- Two Crown Boundary
- Injury to Insult
- Concentrated Fire
- Tyranny
- Damage Cap
The unique Two Crown Boundary Sigil is enough to raise Tweyen's Damage Cap significantly, enabling other damage-boosting Sigils like Concentrated Fire, Tyranny, and Injury to Insult. Meanwhile, Dark Huntress' Warpath gives Tweyen's Charged Attacks a chance to inflict debuffs, boosting the damage of Clincher.
Since Tweyen is a ranged hero, players can build her as a full glass cannon while still being relatively safe. Consider using a Guts Sigil to prevent you from getting one-shot in Maniac and Proud difficulties.
Weapon Options
As of writing, Tweyen has only two weapons to choose from. The default Bow of Dismissal is good if you want to get some good defense going via Greater Aegis and Stronghold. However, if you want to go all-in on damage, use Desolation-Crown Bow for its ATK and Supplementary DMG boosts. You can forge this weapon once you beat the Behemoth on Proud difficulty.
Best Teams For Tweyen
Like other heroes in the GBF: Relink cast, Tweyen can work well regardless of the current team composition. However, due to Clincher's dependence on debuffs, she'll work best with other characters who can debilitate targets. Luckily, many characters can inflict some sort of negative status effect, so it's only a matter of equipping the right skills for them. Such characters (and skills) include:
- Seofon: Prision de Armas
- Siegfried: Verdrangen
- Captain: Armor Break
- Zeta: Wingclipper/Thousand Flames
- Katalina: Sacred Winds
Siegfried is a good partner for Tweyen. His playstyle heavily revolves around rotating his abilities. If his cooldowns are low enough, Tweyen will be able to take advantage of his DEF shred debuff very often.
Tweyen also benefits from having a good frontline fighter who can take the heat off of her. A brawler like Vane is a great example, though anyone who can divert enemy aggro toward themselves, whether it be via skills or Sigils, are also viable options. As long as enemies aren't actively going after Tweyen, she can focus on getting Ultrasight stacks and unleashing Multilock Hail for maximum DPS.
