Summary
- Grand Theft Auto 5 may come to PC Game Pass.
- Previously, the game was made available to console Game Pass subscribers.
- The rumored move to restrict GTA 5 to PC Game Pass may disappoint some fans, but the game's return could also extend to console users, assuming the rumors are true.
Grand Theft Auto 5 is rumored to be making a comeback on Game Pass, but this time it may exclusively be available for subscribers on PC. Being one of the biggest games of the previous decade, Grand Theft Auto 5 is still very popular and attracts loads of new players every day.
GTA 5 is officially over 10 years old. However, that doesn't seem to be affecting the open world game's appeal among players, as Rockstar Games revealed that Grand Theft Auto 5 and GTA Online engagement was on the rise earlier this year. The action-adventure title's popularity looks set to increase even more as it re-joins the Game Pass catalog.
Grand Theft Auto 5: Most Powerful Weapons, Ranked
Weaponry is essential on the mean streets of Los Santos, and here are a few of the most devastating weapons available in Grand Theft Auto 5.
According to Rockstar insider Tez2, GTA 5 will arrive on Xbox's PC Game Pass tier in the future.. In their tweet, they said that Rockstar Games was "preparing" GTA 5 for "future availability" on PC Game Pass. Replying to the comments, Tez2 also revealed that this version of the game will run through the Rockstar Games Launcher and hence won't support crossplay with Xbox console players.
GTA 5 Rumored for PC Game Pass
In the past, GTA 5 has had three different stints on Game Pass, but each time it was only available for console players. Its most recent spell on Xbox Game Pass lasted from July 2023 to January 2024. If the latest rumor is true, it will mark the fourth return of the shooter game to the subscription service and the first time that it is available for Game Pass users on PC.
Since the scintillating success of Grand Theft Auto Online, the online multiplayer mode in GTA 5, the 2013 game has become a cash cow for Rockstar Games. This has led to a constant stream of new content landing on the decade-old game to this day. Recently, GTA Online received yet another update, bringing new missions, vehicles, and more to keep the players coming back to the game.
Based on how popular GTA 5 still is, the rumored move to restrict the game to the PC Game Pass tier may disappoint some fans. But, given that the game has had spells on Xbox Game Pass three times before, it's possible that console players will once again get to have a go at GTA 5 even if that may be further down the road.
