Grand Theft Auto 6 is just seven months away, but as players look to the future of the series, one fan has shared a 12-year-old detail from Grand Theft Auto 5 that many have been blown away by. As Grand Theft Auto 5 is now well over a decade old, all of the game's easter eggs and references have been discovered long ago. But some of the game's details are much more subtle, so it's no surprise that one of its most minute features went under the radar for a lot of fans.
The wait for Grand Theft Auto 6 has been a long and painful one for fans of the series. While the game's first trailer wasn't shown until 2023, ten years after the release of Grand Theft Auto 5, Rockstar suffered a huge data breach back in September 2022, which resulted in tons of early gameplay from Grand Theft Auto 6 leaking online. The footage that made its way onto the internet did appear to be from an early build of the game, and the most recent trailer shows just how far Grand Theft Auto 6 has come since those leaks.
GTA 6's Next Delay is Already Clear
The stage is perfectly set for Grand Theft Auto 6 developer Rockstar Games to delay the game once again beyond its current release date.
GTA 5 Players Only Just Notice Hidden Sun Detail
The second trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 made it clear that this could be Rockstar's most impressive work to date, and there's no doubt that it will be filled with references, easter eggs, and incredible details, much like its predecessor, Grand Theft Auto 5. After being re-released multiple times over the past twelve years, many fans believed they'd seen it all when it came to Grand Theft Auto 5 details. However, a new post from Reddit user Late_Redditor_88 asked the community if they think Grand Theft Auto 6's characters should also have their own unique sun glares like they did in Grand Theft Auto 5. However, the detail seems to have come as a shock to many.
The responses to the post are flooded with comments like, "I did not even know this was a thing," and "Why have I never known about this?" Some even questioned whether or not this was a legitimate detail, or if it was simply the angle at which the character was standing. One Reddit user quickly pointed out that this is a genuine feature implemented by Rockstar and has been in the game since the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 days. For reference, an image from a user in Director Mode shows how four different characters in Grand Theft Auto 5—Trevor, Michael, Franklin, and Tracy—each have their own unique sun glare. What remains a mystery is why Tracy is included in this, as she is not a playable character in the game.
Details such as these become much more impressive when you remember that Grand Theft Auto 5 is so old that it launched on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. With current-gen hardware much more advanced, many are eager to see how Rockstar intends to push the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S to their limits with Grand Theft Auto 6. Sadly, there's still seven months left to go, as a recent delay pushed the highly anticipated title from its original Fall 2025 release window to May 26, 2026.
