Next year will finally bring Grand Theft Auto 6 to gamers, and its impending launch is bound to take up much of the gaming space in 2026. The wait for GTA 6 has been a long one, but with a release date finally locked in and a more in-depth sneak peek from Rockstar, the game is finally starting to feel like a reality.

As the year continues, Rockstar will hopefully release at least one more look into GTA 6. The game's latest trailer revealed fresh characters and hints at plot points, but one looming question remains unanswered: GTA 6 Online. For the past 12 years, GTA Online has kept much of the fan base busy, and many are expecting GTA 6 to have its own version. Rockstar may have yet to officially reveal GTA 6's online mode, but when that day comes, those who prefer playing solo may want to keep an eye on the multiplayer counterpart.

GTA Online's Dr. Dre Mission Was Seemingly a Teaser For GTA 6

Released back in 2021, The Contract was a content drop that introduced a mission starring rap legend Dr. Dre. Players were tasked with finding Dr. Dre's stolen phone that held unreleased tracks. At the time, it just seemed like a fun mission with a major celebrity cameo, but now that Rockstar has revealed that the music industry will play a large role in GTA 6, The Contract feels a lot more like a teaser in hindsight.

Not every GTA 5 player is a fan of GTA Online, and a similar pattern is bound to be repeated with GTA 6's online mode. Sometimes, gamers just prefer solo adventures. However, when GTA 6 Online begins dropping content and missions, single-player fans will at least want to pay close attention to what they entail, because it could be teasing plot points that are beyond GTA 6.

Between GTA and Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar's defining franchises have grown into gaming juggernauts, and it may not take long after GTA 6's release for some players to already begin speculating on GTA 7.
