Grand Theft Auto 6 is now less than a year away, and as Rockstar's next big game draws closer, many are wondering what the title has in store. The most recent trailer for GTA 6 offered fans one of the most substantial updates yet, revealing plenty of exciting features. From hints at plot points to a better look at in-game activities, the game appears to be packed with content.

One unanswered question is still on a lot of fans' minds, though. There has yet to be an official confirmation of a GTA Online counterpart for GTA 6. If GTA 6 is truly as filled with content as it teases, then a new version of GTA Online is already promised to be a huge upgrade from the already popular GTA 5 spin-off. Huge vehicles make GTA Online incredibly fun, and with GTA 6's teased monster trucks, the game's online counterpart could bring hours of fun.

GTA 6's Monster Trucks Could Give Rise to a New GTA Online Pastime

It's important to note that GTA 5 and GTA Online are no strangers to monster trucks. Vehicles like The Liberator bring off-road debauchery to the city of Los Santos, but what makes GTA 6's monster trucks so exciting is that these vehicles are better suited for Vice City and the greater state of Leonida. There have only been glimpses of GTA 6's monster trucks, but if the game's online version builds a similar community to what GTA Online has grown into, then monster trucking through the busy streets of Vice City and its more rural areas could prove to be a huge side activity for players.

GTA 6 is slated to launch on May 26, 2026, for the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. Even with the Switch 2 being able to run games like Cyberpunk 2077, it has yet to be revealed if GTA 6 will get ported to the new Nintendo console.

Diving Into Leonida's Florida Roots

With Vice City being based on Miami, the rest of Leonida is naturally inspired by the state of Florida. With a teased in-game group called the Thrillbilly Mud Club that promises off-roading adventures, GTA 6 boasts a far better location to wreak havoc with a hulking monster truck.

It's hard to believe that it's been almost two years since gamers got a sneak peek at the Thrillbilly Mud Club with GTA 6's first trailer, but it remains an intriguing group. The GTA franchise is known for offering a treasure trove of side activities, and the expectations for GTA 6's pastimes are incredibly high. Over the years, GTA Online players have created inventive races and challenges, and it's easy to imagine GTA 6 spawning a similar community, but centered specifically around monster trucks.

Between the swamps of the Grassrivers and the drug-fueled area of Port Gellhorn, GTA 6 offers plenty of locations that would make sense for a monster truck-focused online community to rise up. Even after over a decade, GTA Online is still a huge success, and with GTA 6 refining its vehicles and offering an even bigger playground for chaos, its online version is bound to harbor a massive player base.

The reveal of the latest trailer at the beginning of May sent the industry into a frenzy, further demonstrating the hype surrounding GTA 6. Rockstar has been incredibly careful with when it releases information about GTA 6, but when the developer is ready, features like monster trucks, the Thrillbilly Mud Club, and an online mode will hopefully get the spotlight.
