Grand Theft Auto 6, for many gamers, is the most anticipated title of 2026 — and for some, their most anticipated project of all time. Naturally, there is constant discussion around GTA 6 and theories about when the next trailer will arrive, and an upcoming earnings call on February 3 makes it possible for one to drop very soon.
Given how analysts expect Grand Theft Auto 6 to break practically every sales record imaginable when it debuts, Take-Two investors are consistently eager to hear updates on the game. These come via earnings calls, and while they are usually not particularly revealing — think language like “on track,” “progressing nicely,” and so on, as opposed to talking about actual content — companies do tend to make announcements shortly before their earnings calls to give shareholders something to latch on to (and the stock price shooting up as a result would obviously be beneficial to the company).
To be clear, there is no guarantee that a new GTA 6 trailer will drop in the back half of January; the game is a special case, after all, where the hype is plenty high without an overabundance of promotional material to go off of. Perhaps Rockstar will continue to let the existing trailers and screenshots speak for the game, or maybe it will drop a batch of new images via the game's website. As of now, it’s anyone’s guess, but an earnings call being imminent does increase the chances of Trailer #3 finally being shared with the public. As for what it could show, there’s one thing that fans are desperate to see: proper gameplay.
GTA 6’s Next Trailer Could Spotlight Gameplay… But It Doesn’t Have To
With Grand Theft Auto 6’s previous trailers building up the game’s two protagonists, Lucia and Jason, there hasn’t been much of a spotlight placed on actual gameplay. Players know all the GTA staples will be there, like shooting, driving, customization, and a Wanted system, but actually seeing them in action and getting to compare the changes side-by-side with GTA 5 would keep fans talking for a while. Not to mention all the side activities players want to see in action, from Monster Trucking to Deep Sea Diving. A gameplay trailer could be a natural next move for Rockstar, as it’s done plenty to highlight the story, though there is a case against it.
Red Dead Redemption 2 didn’t receive gameplay until its fourth trailer, with a range of deep dives following this reveal. Said trailer wasn’t released until the game was a few months out from launch, either, so if the same pattern is followed here, then raw gameplay won’t be seen for several months. Again, though, GTA 6 is a different beast, and Rockstar doesn’t have to follow the exact same pattern if it wants to handle things a little differently. Perhaps Trailer #3 will be raw gameplay, and Trailer #4 could highlight the new iteration of GTA Online, an experience that will undoubtedly be bringing Rockstar money for years to come.
Not much has been said about GTA Online thus far, including whether it will launch weeks after the singleplayer portion like GTA 5’s multiplayer did. There’s also rumors of a separate release, which is where the GTA 6 price increase discussion stems from, but this all remains speculation as of now.
Regardless of what GTA 6’s next trailer shows, there’s a very real chance that it drops before the month is over. Fans of the Grand Theft Auto franchise should keep a close eye on February 3, because if the trailer is going to come anytime soon, it will likely be before this date arrives. If it doesn't, then the waiting game (and wacky theories) will have to continue.
