  • Michael De Santa's movie, Meltdown, can be seen in the background of a Grand Theft Auto 6 GIF.
  • The DVD case for the movie is identical to the poster seen in GTA 5.

One of the many new promotional images for Grand Theft Auto 6 appears to include a hidden reference to an iconic character from 2013's Grand Theft Auto 5. The easter egg, which can easily be missed, was spotted by an eagle-eyed viewer who noticed that a GIF for Grand Theft Auto 6 includes a DVD for Michael De Santa's movie, Meltdown. The movie was a part of a mission of the same name in Grand Theft Auto 5.

Developer and publisher Rockstar Games shocked the gaming community last week, as the studio finally released the second Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer. The game's first trailer was released all the way back in 2023, but the studio was silent on the game after, with over 500 days of no new information or promotional material. Thankfully, the second trailer also saw Rockstar update its website with a plethora of new details and over 70 screenshots. With so much information to digest, fans are still discovering easter eggs and references over a week later.

Grand Theft Auto 6 Fan Spots Michael's Movie in Trailer 2

Grand Theft Auto 6 fans have already discovered plenty of interesting details surrounding the game's characters and location, but one eagle-eyed viewer has picked up on an easily missed easter egg that references Michael De Santa from Grand Theft Auto 5. Reddit user Outlawharry745 took to the GTA subreddit earlier this week to point out that Michael's movie, Meltdown, can be seen in the background of a GIF of Jason robbing a convenience store. Although it's difficult to make out, the red title and white shirt make it clear that this is the same DVD as Meltdown, a movie produced by Michael during the events of GTA 5.

This isn't the first time that fans have spotted a reference to GTA 5 in Grand Theft Auto 6 either. Shortly after the game's latest trailer was released, fans noticed that a yacht in Jason's front yard looked strikingly similar to the one that had been stolen from Michael at the beginning of Grand Theft Auto 5. While some have argued that this is just a reused asset, others like to believe that the yacht made its way to Vice City and into the hands of Jason.

Following the events of GTA 5, numerous characters have gone on to reappear in Grand Theft Auto Online, continuing some of the story mode's plot. Franklin, for example, received his very own content update in 2021 , known as "The Contract." The update gave fans an insight into what Franklin had been up to since the events of GTA 5, with brand-new missions for players to complete.

However, one character fans are eager to see return in Grand Theft Auto Online is Michael. While the character has been referenced numerous times in GTA Online, he has yet to officially appear. Michael's actor, Ned Luke, has teased his return multiple times, but with the game likely approaching the end of its life cycle, it's looking increasingly likely that the character will never return...at least in GTA Online, anyway.
