Grand Theft Auto 6 may have been pushed back until next year, but Rockstar has at least offered a lot more information since the delay announcement. Alongside the second trailer for GTA 6, the Rockstar website was updated with plenty of interesting character details that offer eager fans a clearer look at what the game has in store for them.
Saying that GTA 6 is highly anticipated is a bit of an understatement. Rockstar's next entry in its long-running crime-centered series has the potential to be a turning point in the industry. With its rumored 2 billion dollar budget, GTA 6 is set to make the 2026 release calendar quite interesting. What's even more compelling, though, is the game's teased story. Many of the finer details remain under wraps, but one thing has been made clear: the music industry is going to play an important role.

GTA Online: The Contract
Since GTA Online launched, the game has continued to bring fresh content updates, with one of the most notable being The Contract. This special mission introduces real-life hip-hop stars Dr. Dre and Anderson Paak to GTA Online, as players have to find the former's missing phone that contains unreleased tracks. The mission eventually leads players back to the studio to watch Dr. Dre and Anderson Paak hop on the mic together and record a song. At the time, this simply seemed like a fun high-profile cameo, but it could have set the stage for GTA 6's Only Raw Records.
Only Raw Records and Vice City's Rap Scene
Recently, Rockstar revealed character details for GTA 6, with two of them being Dre'Quan Priest and Boobie Ike. Priest manages Only Raw Records, while Ike serves as the main investor in the business. With local rapper Real Dimez looking for her shot at fame, Only Raw Records seems bound to play an important role in the game's story.
Rockstar wouldn't have revealed the names of Priest, Ike, and Real Dimez if they weren't essential to the plot, so it will be fascinating to see how the music industry is intertwined with GTA 6's crime story. When describing Priest, Rockstar's official website states, "Now that he's signed Real Dimez, Dre'Quan's days of booking acts into Boobie's strip club might be numbered as he sets his sights on the Vice City scene." It's been confirmed that De'Quan Priest is a former street hustler, while Boobie Ike is the owner of Jack of Hearts, a local strip club. These professions have likely connected the two to some unsavory people throughout the state of Leonida, and that could set up some tension-filled moments that unfold in front of a music-centric backdrop.
The confirmed map locations for GTA 6 are Vice City, Leonida Keys, Grassrivers, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, and Mount Kalaga.

The GTA Franchise Has Always Been Closely Tied to Music
Throughout the franchise, music has played an important role in GTA. Whether it be through the many radio stations that can be listened to in-game or cameos like Dr. Dre, GTA has kept a place for music in its world. However, this time around, music gets to be part of the overall story, and that's a thrilling promise. Even in the GTA 6 trailers, the song choices have helped set the tone.
Between an up-and-coming record label and Lucia and Jason working toward success, GTA 6 is already looking like a story filled with drama. Gamers may have to wait a little bit longer than initially thought, but the details that have been confirmed by Rockstar make it seem like GTA 6 is going to be well worth the wait.
