There are very few games that have people as hyped and excited as Grand Theft Auto 6. The game is rumored to have been in development for several years, but Rockstar Games has yet to give any sort of indication as to when fans can expect Grand Theft Auto 6 to release. However, according to a new leak, it could be sooner than people realize.
Grand Theft Auto is one of the most popular and influential video game franchises of all time. In fact, the fifth entry, Grand Theft Auto 5, is the second highest-selling video game in history. A full seven years after its initial release, GTA 5 is one of the most downloaded games on PS4 and other platforms.
Ever since the release of GTA 5 back in September of 2013, fans of the series have been patiently awaiting the arrival of the sixth installment. However, Rockstar Games has not given fans much by way of new information regarding when the game might be released. In fact, a voice actor for GTA 5 actually urged fans to not listen to any of the leaks.
With all of this being said, one of the most recent leaks from a reliable source says that the story for GTA 6 has already been completed. This likely means that the development of the rest of the game is now underway or has been ongoing from the start. Then again, others have said that the game is already 60 to 70 percent completed.
What's important to note is that just because the story might be outlined, does not necessarily mean that the game is close to being completed. The story for Red Dead Redemption 2 was completed back in 2012, but Rockstar made significant changes to the narrative during the development of the game. Not to mention the fact that the game came out a full six years after the game's story was supposedly completed.
Regardless, if the leaks have any semblance of truth, this could mean that development of GTA 6 is nearing completion. Though, without any kind of gameplay footage, story trailers, or really any sort of official feedback from Rockstar, there's no real way of knowing when fans can expect the release of the game. That being said, fans are expecting a lot from this game and for good reason. Hopefully, Rockstar Games will be able to exceed the precedent that GTA 5 had set.
