Grand Theft Auto 6 fans online believe they have debunked the very prominent "third protagonist" theory. However, the way they have debunked this Grand Theft Auto 6 theory isn't quite as conventional as most would expect.
For a while now, many Grand Theft Auto 6 fans have been convinced Rockstar is hiding a third protagonist. The driving force behind this theory proposes the idea that because Grand Theft Auto 6 is seemingly a "Bonnie and Clyde" story, one or both of dual protagonists Jason and Lucia will die. If this turns out to be true, many have theorized that side characters Raul Bautista and Dre'Quan Priest could replace them, but one fans thinks they have found the perfect way to debunk this.
Grand Theft Auto 5 Players Notice 12-Year-Old Detail for the First Time
With GTA 6 on the horizon, Grand Theft Auto 5 players notice a small detail from 12 years ago that has gone completely under the radar for many.
Grand Theft Auto 6 Fans Use Stubble to Debunk Third Protagonist Theory
Over on Reddit, user Elven-Melvin shared screenshots of both Bautista and Priest, pointing out that the pair feature the same static facial hair in every released image so far. It's already known that Jason's hair and stubble grow dynamically in Grand Theft Auto 6, just like Arthur Morgan's in Rockstar's previous title, Red Dead Redemption 2. Elven-Melvin claims that this likely debunks the idea that either of these characters would become playable, as it's likely that released screenshots would feature dynamic facial hair.
It should be noted that this doesn't definitively resolve Grand Theft Auto 6's third protagonist theory either way. However, it is important evidence against a theory that already feels rather unlikely. However, that's part of the fun of the lead up to the release of a game like Grand Theft Auto 6. Everyone is always going to have their own theories about different elements of the game, and the only thing to do now is wait and see for the full release.
Although there were some rumors of GTA 6 facing another delay from its current May 2026 release date, there has been nothing official from Rockstar on this. The date is currently planned for just over seven months away, so hopefully, the game's full marketing campaign isn't too far from kicking into gear. One thing is for sure - as more footage from the game is released, conversations such as the third protagonist theory will go into overdrive.
