Grand Theft Auto Online's first weekly update of 2024 has been released and it is all set to bring new challenges, vehicles, and a plethora of exciting stuff to the game. It's been quite an eventful past few weeks for fans of the game with Rockstar Games kicking off the festive season with the release of the highly anticipated GTA Online holiday update.

The arrival of snow in Los Santos this time around was accompanied by new game modes, gear, rewards, and much more. The classic Die Hard-inspired Weazel Plaza Shootout made a return along with the snowmen and Yeti hunt. That's not all, the developers also gave away tons of free cosmetics to celebrate the New Year. While some of the festive additions will be staying in the game for a while longer, a few of them have already bid adieu to the game and are being replaced with new content as part of the weekly update.

GTA 5 and GTA Online Features That Shouldn't Return in GTA 6

GTA 6 has to give fans a seamless gaming experience to live up to the hype, and some features from GTA 5 and Online should be dropped to deliver it.

In a Newswire post, Rockstar Games has outlined what players can expect from the January 4 weekly update. Firstly, GTA Online is getting a Wildlife Photography Challenge, which will allow players to send pictures of animals to the LS Tourist Board and earn rewards. Each photograph they send will reward them with GTA$20000 and 500 RP, although they can only do this thrice each day. Notably, animals only recently made their debut in GTA Online, as part of the December update.

On top of that, the Declasse Park Ranger vehicle has also been added to the game. To unlock it, players will need to take a photo of one animal. If they manage to take ten photos, they can grab the Declasse Park Ranger for a reduced price of $2,235,000 as compared to the regular $2,980,000. Additionally, taking part in the challenge will also reward players with the Zoophilist Outfit. Both the Wildlife Photography Challenge and Declasse Park Ranger are only exclusively available for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S players. Peyote Plants are also making a return in GTA Online, which will allow players to turn into animals for a limited time.

Fans are eagerly looking for bonuses every week, and this time around there are only 2x GTA$ & RP opportunities available via HSW Races, Stunt Races, Time Trials, Junk Energy Time trials, and Trap Door Adversary Mode. Players who place in the top 3 spots in the GTA Online LS Car Meet Series for three days in a row will also get the Declasse Tulip. While there are tons of exciting stuff to look forward to as part of the update, fans on PC are quite disappointed that the Wildlife Photography Challenge and Declasse Park Ranger are exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S players. Whether Rockstar Games adds the car to GTA Online on PC in the future remains to be seen.
