Creep Jar's survival title Green Hell is heading to current generation consoles on August 14, 2024. New and veteran players will be able to attempt to survive the jungle on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 once Green Hell releases on the platforms.
Green Hell is a realistic survival game set in the Amazonian jungle. Players have to live and explore their surroundings while fighting off caimans, jaguars, and scorpions. Originally released in Early Access in August 2018. The open-world title is currently available on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4, with a VR version available on Steam and Oculus Quest 2.
Green Hell: Best Base Locations
Green Hell doesn't make survival easy on players, but building a well-placed base can increase one's chances.
Players can look forward to updated graphics when Green Hell hits current generation consoles on August 14, 2024. Those looking to purchase the title for the first time can buy it for $24.99, though a 20% sale will be in effect until August 28. The game will come with the most recent updates, previously only available on PC, including Storage and Transportation, Fortifications and Building, Flamekeeper. Current gen Green Hell will also include Animal Husbandry.
Green Hell Heading to Next Gen Consoles August 2024
For those that already own the Amazonian set Green Hell on console, there is a free update waiting on August 14 to upgrade to the current generation version. However, save transfers will be unavailable between the two versions. Players will need to start over when playing on PS5 or Xbox Series X|S. Additionally, no crossplay will be enabled due to the differences in content and ability for the Xbox One and PS4 to run the new version adequately.
This announcement is the first new development for Green Hell since it was showcased at the February 2023 State of Play. This is encouraging news for fans of the title, as new updates that take advantage of the advanced software could be in the game's future. None of this has been rumored previously, but access to new technology is often the precursor to additional features or game mechanics.
While Green Hell already has crafting-based gameplay, new methods inspired by recent survival titles could be added. New creatures to fight or an additional area to explore wouldn't be as taxing on current gen consoles. Releasing Green Hell on these platforms opens a world of possibilities for the development team to expand on the hit title. This is just speculation at this time, though, as Creepy Jar hasn't hinted at any further updates for the game.
