Surviving the threats of nature in Grounded 2 doesn't just require players to explore new locations and maintain their hunger and thirst. Additionally, they will be facing off against many bug enemies who can harm them. As you begin your Grounded 2 playthrough, sorting yourself out with some armor as early as possible can make all the difference.
However, many of the best armors often take some work to get, including completing story missions and working your way through bug territory, finishing bosses or entering locations with high difficulty. To help ease players into the world, finding and creating more accessible armor should be high on their priority list from the moment they get started. If you find yourself wondering which armor sets are the best for helping to prevent death in the early game of Grounded 2, all the information you'll need has been outlined in the guide below.
Best Early Game Armor in Grounded 2
Acorn Armor Set & Mods
In Grounded 2, there are a few different options for solid early-game armor, depending on your playstyle or the approach/build you would like to take for combat purposes. The first of these viable early-game options is the Acorn Armor. This set not only offers protection, but also has valuable mods for a fighting approach, offering additional max health and melee attacks that generate more threat. It is also made from materials that aren't too difficult to craft or come by, such as Acorns, Clover leaves, and Crude Rope.
- Acorn Face Mask
- Acorn Greaves
- Acorn Plate
- Mod 1 - Fighter Armor: Melee attacks generate more threat
- Mod 2 - Max Health: More max health
Ladybug Armor Set & Mods
While it is a tad harder to source as a Tier II item, Ladybug Armor is another armor that thrives in the early game and beyond. The materials needed to craft these armor pieces (Flower Petal, Lady Bug Part, Blueberry Leather) can be obtained from some of the first few areas that you can explore, bordering each side of the Snack Bar, where players tend to start.
The most difficult part about this will be taking down Lady Bugs, but this is by no means impossible. Just time your attacks and blocks well, or pick up a friend or two to help farm the Ladybugs, as they move quite slowly and get easier to take down when surrounded. This armor also offers Bargain Block, which drains less Stamina when attacks are blocked.
- Ladybug Chest Plate
- Ladybug Faceplate
- Ladybug Shin Guards
- Mod 1 - Fighter Armor: Melee attacks generate more threat
- Mod 2 - Bargain Block: Blocked attacks drain less stamina
Grub Armor Set & Mods
The Grub Armor Set is particularly useful if you want to take a ranger build approach for your character. It's made out of Dry Grass Chunks and Grub loot drops, with Grubs being pretty easy to come by if you know where to look. (Moving dirt patches are usually the go!) Grub Armor adds mods that take your combat to the next level, including much quicker charged attacks and bonus damage dealt when hitting an enemy's weak points.
- Grub Goggles
- Grub Vest
- Grub Leggings
- Mod 1 - Ranger Armor: Increase damage done to enemy weak points
- Mod 2 - Quickcharge: Blocked attacks drain less stamina
Red Ant Armor Set & Mods
Lastly, the Red Ant Armor set is also a viable option to see you through the early game. The beginning area (and many others) are crawling with Red Ants, making harvesting the required materials fairly accessible. However, if players go with this option, they should also consider optimizing their build with a weapon made from Red Ant materials, too. This will proc the mod that reduces the Stamina cost of weapons made from Red Ants.
- Red Ant Helmet
- Red Ant Arm Guards
- Re Ant Knee Guards
- Mod 1 - Rogue Armor: The final hit in your 3-hit combo has an increased crit chance
- Mod 2 - Attack Stamina: Ant: Your expertise in Ant anatomy reduces the stamina cost of weapons made with Red Ant Parts
