Throughout the game world in Obsidian Interactive's Grounded, players will find various powerful items to craft, including unique weapon and armor sets, resulting in a variety of unique builds to suit every possible play style. The Fire Ant Armor pieces are some of the strongest pieces of equipment in the game, but also some of the toughest to acquire. When equipped, they will provide players with 20% damage reduction, +10 Defence and 5% Resistance. The armor is especially powerful due to its corrosive effects, which grant players several unique acidic effects when attacking while wearing the armor.

How To Unlock Fire Ant Armor Recipes

Grounded Resource Anaylzer

Like most unique weapons and armor in Grounded, players can craft the Fire Ant Armor set at a Workbench, which can be constructed anywhere. However, a workbench alone is not enough. First, players will need to unlock the recipe for each piece. This can be done by taking the unique components of an item and Analyzing them at a Research Base.

Grounded: How To Complete All Labs (& Best Lab Order)

Completing labs lets players unlock essentials in Grounded. Here's the best order to tackle them in.

Each equipment item has its own requisite material which must be analyzed in order to unlock the crafting of the item. The Fire Ant Helmet will require a Fire Ant Head to be analyzed, the Chestplate will require Mandibles, and, for the Leg Plates, a simple Fire Ant Part. Once each piece has been analyzed, players will then be able to craft each item once they have gathered the necessary crafting materials.

How To Craft Fire Ant Armor

Grounded Crafting Workbench

Each piece of the armor will need to be constructed separately, and demands vary slightly for different parts of the armor. Once the materials have been gathered and analyzed, simply head to a basic Workbench and the items will appear available for crafting. The list of crafting materials for each item of the armor set is as follows:

  • Fire Ant Helmet - 1x Fire Ant Head, 2x Fire Ant Part, 2x Lint Rope.
  • Fire Ant Chestplate - 2x Fire Ant Part, 1x Fire Ant Mandible, 2x Lint Rope.
  • Fire Ant Legplates - 2x Fire Ant Part, 1x Dust Mite Fuzz, 2x Lint Rope.

Each piece can be crafted individually, so it's not necessary to gather all crafting materials for all items if you only want to craft the helmet, for example. A fair amount of traveling and preparation may be required, as the areas players will need to go to obtain the crafting materials are particularly dangerous.

Where To Find Fire Ant Armor Crafting Materials

Grounded Fire Ant Soldier

It goes without saying that, for the most part, players will need to seek out and defeat Fire Ants; however, there are some specifics to be aware of when hunting for these materials. Fire Ant Workers will drop either Fire Ant Parts or a Fire Ant Head, while the Fire Ant Mandibles must be taken from a stronger, soldier ant.

The best place to find both variants is to head to the Fire Ant nest, but beware that it is one of the toughest areas in the game to survive. In addition to these materials, Dust Mite Fuzz can also be found by slaying Dust Mites from the underside of the shed. Lint Rope can also typically be found on the shed doormat and insulation.
