Obsidian Entertainment has released a new update for its survival adventure game, Grounded, bringing many changes and improvements for pets, bosses, mutations, along with additions and tweaks to Playgrounds Mode. Grounded’s patch 1.4.7 also addresses some major issues, such as bugs and crashes related to quests, weapons, achievements, and more.
Grounded is a survival game that came out in September 2022 for PC and Xbox, with a later release on Nintendo Switch, PS4, and PS5. In it, players take on the role of a teenager who has been shrunk down to the size of an ant and now has to survive the dangers of their own backyard, playing solo or in up to four-player co-op. Alongside surviving insect and animal threats, players have to gather resources, build shelters, and craft tools and weapons, all while managing hunger and thirst. The game has had a pretty good reception, with its Steam reviews currently sitting at “Very Positive.” Now, Obsidian has rolled out a significant patch to smooth out several areas of the game.
Grounded: 26 Beginner Tips You Need To Know
Newcomers to Grounded may want to check out these hints and tips before getting started.
Grounded’s patch 1.4.7 has added a new “AFK” state, which basically reduces Hunger and Thirst by 95% when the player is inactive for 60 seconds. A small but useful change has been made to gamepad movement, as walking slower than sprint speed will no longer drain stamina. Moreover, the Lure Trap now attracts all land creatures in Grounded, though it won’t work for Stinkbugs, Green Shield Bugs, and all water creatures.
Grounded’s pets have also seen some updates, increasing their health by 150% and introducing buffs for Aphid and Weevil pets, ranging from stamina drain reduction to hunger and thirst drain reduction. On another front, players can now “Perfect Block” the Mantis Boss’ Scream attack, and several scaling updates have been made for REMIX.D Yard’s bosses, including bigger rewards and drops.
The Playgrounds mode received some additions and changes as well, and players can now enable Story Quests in the mode. Additionally, certain stats for creatures, bosses, weapons, and armor can be customized, such as name, scale, health, durability, damage, and more. Last but not least, the patch also rectified a wealth of issues causing crashes and bugs.
Earlier in 2024, Grounded launched its final content patch, adding new features like the ability to befriend ants, 12 new Ant Queen-themed buildings, and plenty of new items. Even though Obsidian Entertainment won’t bring fresh content to the game, the developer remains committed to continuing to update Grounded to ensure it works well for its player base.
