Players in Roblox's Grow a Garden are getting sick and tired of having their crops stolen, and they're hoping that the development team at The Garden Game does something to curb the recent wave of kleptomania. The game on Roblox has become incredibly popular since its introduction in March, but frustration over the stealing issue may be driving some players away.

The mass appeal of the idle farming simulator has grown undeniable. Shortly following the recent launch of the game's first summer update, Grow a Garden smashed Fortnite's concurrent player record, registering more than 16 million players at one time on June 14. That's exceptionally impressive given the game's commonly found gameplay loop of planting, harvesting, selling, and expanding, but it has worked surprisingly well for the farming sim.

But players looking to make money fast in Grow a Garden have options beyond just tending to their own plants, allowing them to steal from other players' gardens for the cost of just 37 Robux. That's become an issue with a portion of the game's community that's growing vocal on social media sites, including a recent thread on Reddit calling for the development team to remove the feature entirely. While stealing was designed as part of the game, multiple players have reported that they have actually walked away from a session early after logging in and discovering someone skulking around their gardens, potentially ready to make off with their hard-earned crops.

Grow A Garden Players Want Changes to Stealing

Several players have contributed possible solutions to the problems the community is currently facing with stealing. One player has suggested that the existing ability to mark a plant as a favorite should gain the ability to protect the best crops in Grow a Garden from potential thieves. Others have suggested that the feature could be left mostly as-is, but have suggested the Robux cost for stealing should be increased.

Those looking to avoid thieves under the current rules have some options available, though none will appeal to all players. Many have suggested using free private servers in Grow A Garden, but while this method keeps potential thieves out, it also cuts the player off from the in-game community as a whole. Others have suggested being selective about the kinds of plants they grow, as a large yield of crops from smaller, individual plants can still be just as profitable as focusing on one or two giant, expensive ones. Additionally, while the desire to show off prize pieces of produce might be appealing, those who want to avoid thieves may want to try to hide them away in the middle of other plants.
