With Roblox's Grow a Garden animal update, the devs have really stepped up the game by adding a ton of fun new content. Now, besides growing fruits and taking care of your garden, you can also have some pets, just like Pet Simulator 99. These animals aren't just a cute addition to your farm; they also boost your crops and improve your player experience in some pretty cool ways. Some pets will make your fruits and veggies mutate, while others will make them bigger or even give you free fruits and seeds. To get them, though, you’ll need to buy and hatch their eggs, which can cost a lot of Sheckles. So, it’s important to know which animals are worth it. If you’re looking to spend wisely, here's a ranking of the animals in Grow a Garden from least to most valuable.
Grow a Garden: Best Crops Tier List
Grow a Garden has lots of seeds, but only some are truly worth planting. Here’s a simple tier list breaking down the best and the worst ones.
Updated on December 20, 2025, by Somiya Adrees: The tier list below in this guide has been refreshed to include every pet available up to the 1.37.0 update, including all the time-limited pets as well; this should help players decide which pets to keep, trade, or let go.
Grow a Garden: All Pets Tier List
Currently, Grow a Garden is home to 245 animals, each with its own unique abilities. Think of them as walking gear. They can do stuff like turn your crops into mutated ones, water your plants, speed up sprinklers, or even search out free seeds for you.
You can only have three animals active in your garden at a time (unless you've snagged more pet slots), but the good news is that any extras you hatch won’t go to waste. You can swap them in and out whenever you like for a fresh vibe or to enjoy their different perks. Here’s a simple tier list of all the animals in Grow a Garden, with reasons why some are more useful than others:
|
All Animals |
Tiers |
Type |
Reasoning |
|---|---|---|---|
|
Kitsune |
SS Tier |
Fruit-Stealing Pet |
Right now, the best pet in Grow a Garden. It can apply a Chakra Mutation (15x value) to a fruit from a nearby garden, or even a Foxfire Chakra (90x value), and give it to you. |
|
Raccoon |
SS Tier |
Fruit-Stealing Pet |
Gives free fruit every 15 minutes by cloning one from a neighbor’s garden. |
|
Disco Bee |
SS Tier |
Mutation Pet |
Activates the Disco mutation on crops (125x value) nearly every 20 minutes, with a 12.28% chance each time. |
|
Headless Horseman |
SS Tier |
Mutation Pet |
Resets Level 50 pets to Level 1 and applies one of four mutations: Dreadbound (6 to 30 XP/s), Soulflame (gives XP to pets or adds Burnt/Flaming mutation to plants), Spectral (1.08x faster critter cooldown), or Nightmare (125% bigger pet size or 1.22x faster cooldown). |
|
Chinchilla |
SS Tier |
Ability Cloner |
Better than the Mimic Octopus, as it lets the critter perform another pet’s ability three times within 40 minutes (saves 20 minutes compared to the Mimic Octopus). |
|
Elephant |
SS Tier |
Weight Buff Pet |
Increases your critter's base weight by 0.1 kg, improving its ability. Since it can also reset the chosen pet's age to one, it's basically a grinding pet that’s only useful when you want to farm for weight. |
|
Hydra |
SS Tier |
Hatch Related and Mutation |
Can fully hatch an egg and apply the Terran mutation to a plant. When sold, a random mutation from that fruit will be applied to a hanging fruit in your garden. |
|
Ruby Squid |

S Tier |
Egg Giver |
May return the eggs you hatch while they’re swimming around your plot. |

|
Barn Owl |
S Tier |
XP and Pet Size |
While it also gives XP to all Fall update pets active on your farm, it’s considered an S-tier critter because it grants a weight bonus to pets bought directly from the event shops. This means the pets enter your inventory with higher base weight, which improves their abilities. |
|

Grow a Garden: All Pets & What They Do
Pets have been part of Grow a Garden since the 1.04.0 update, helping players in numerous ways; here’s a list of all the critters and what they do.
Best Pets in Grow a Garden
Most animals in Grow a Garden are super helpful, but a few of them stand out from the pack:
- Kitsuni has outshined all other fruit-stealing critters in Grow a Garden. It’s even better than Raccoon because not only can it steal a plant for you like Candy Blossom, but it also raises that plant’s value by 15x or even 90x before giving it to you.
- Dragonfly and Butterfly are also OP critters since they give you the two most valuable variants in the game: Gold and Rainbow. These can blow up your plant's stacking bonus, taking their value from just a few million to literal billions.
- Disco Bee and Space Squirrel can give you Disco and Voidtouched plants, which were once limited to rare Disco and Blackhole events. These mutated variants sell for 125x and 135x their original value.
- Chinchilla and Swan are among the best critters in Grow a Garden since they can act as duplicate pets. The Octopus copies traits of the active pets, while the Swan copies from a neighbor’s farm.
- Fennec Fox, T-Rex, and Spinosaurus are must-haves for mutations. One of the main differences is that the fox can steal mutations from neighboring farms (even Dawnbound, Plasma, and Voidtouched), while the dinosaurs can clone them from your own farm. Spinosaurus is especially useful when you want to stack mutations on your favorite fruits.
- The top pets from the Christmas Event (Part 1 to 3) in Grow a Garden are Wendigo, Arctic Fox, and Frost Squirrel. To make the most of the season, be sure to grab Yeti, Snowman Builder, and Christmas Spirit.
