The surprise release of Grand Theft Auto 6's second trailer has created a surge of hype around the game, and it seriously impressed fans with its graphical fidelity and style. Rockstar has looked to increase this excitement by releasing some significant information about the game, some of which places a spotlight on Jason Duval, one of the game's two major protagonists.

The first trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 did not do much to showcase Jason, as its focus was largely placed on the game's other protagonist, Lucia. However, the character profiles that Rockstar has now added to GTA 6's official website, coupled with the footage from the second trailer, give some fascinating insight into Jason's background. More specifically, it is now known that Jason has past military experience, which could inspire one of the most memorable gameplay sequences that the franchise has seen.

Grand Theft Auto 6's Port Gellhorn Could Be a Playground For Troublemaking Gamers

Of all the new locations in Grand Theft Auto 6, it seems like Port Gellhorn might be the best place for causing undetected chaos.

Jason's Army Experience Could Play a Big Role in Grand Theft Auto 6's Story

The recently revealed profiles for Jason and Lucia suggest unsteady upbringings for both characters. Lucia grew up in Liberty City and had to fight for survival from a young age, while Jason's bio indicates that he spent some time in the Army, to "shake off his troubled teens," before settling around Vice City. While this description does not offer a great deal of clarity about Jason's time in the military, more can seemingly be learned by looking at the second trailer and the accompanying screenshots of the characters. Specifically, some of Jason's tattoos are visible in these visuals, and they seem to depict military insignia that suggest he spent time in the infantry.

The official Grand Theft Auto 6 website also has brief profiles for many of the game's supporting characters, suggesting a wide network of people who help Jason and Lucia with their criminal business.

This kind of experience would have made Jason proficient with a range of firearms, and it would make his position as depicted in the recent trailer for GTA 6 all the more interesting. Through the second trailer, and the additional information on the official website, it is known that Jason is working as a debt collector for a notorious drug-runner, Brian Heder. This arrangement provides the protagonist with a direct foothold into the criminal underworld, which will, presumably, spiral out of control throughout the game's story.

GTA 6 Needs to Pull Out All the Stops With its Character Introductions

Grand Theft Auto 6 is going to have to do a lot if it hopes to meet, and exceed, the experience of playing GTA 5. For example, GTA 6 must really nail its character introductions, as Grand Theft Auto 5 set a precedent with its unique opening sequence. That scene takes place in the snow-covered streets of North Yankton during a bank heist gone wrong, and it provides some backstory for both Trevor and Michael, two of the game's protagonists. Fortunately, GTA 6 is primed to have unique character introductions of its own, and Jason's could center around his military service.

Perhaps Jason found himself in some trouble during his combat experience, and an opening sequence that plays as a kind of third-person military shooter could be an interesting way to introduce the character and start GTA 6 off with an unexpected and memorable sequence. An introductory sequence for Lucia that also sets itself apart from the rest of the game could be a great way to showcase the wildly different lives that the protagonists lived prior to meeting each other. The distinct backgrounds of Jason and Lucia should be embraced throughout GTA 6, and Jason's military experience could lead to a one-of-a-kind introduction for the franchise.
