Cyberpunk 2077 studio CD Projekt Red has jokingly responded to the recent Grand Theft Auto 6 release date delay by poking fun at its own past mistakes. While Cyberpunk 2077 is now considered to be one of the best RPGs of the last decade, CD Projekt Red experienced similar struggles to what Rockstar Games has with Grand Theft Auto 6, which has led the studio to issue a hilarious response after news of yet another delay broke this week.
On November 6, the very same day as Take-Two Interactive's latest earnings call, Grand Theft Auto and Red Dead Redemption studio Rockstar Games left the world disappointed once again as it confirmed another delay to Grand Theft Auto 6's release date. When the title was first announced back in 2023, the studio said it was targeting a Fall 2025 release window. This was then pushed back to May 26, 2026, which was expected, given Rockstar's history of delays. While some fans were confident that this would be the only delay, Rockstar has now pushed the next GTA game back to November 19, 2026, in order to finish the game with the level of polish that fans expect from the studio.
Cyberpunk is Getting an Unexpected Crossover
Cyberpunk fans are in for a surprising crossover featuring one of the franchise's most popular characters in a game that not many saw coming.
Cyberpunk 2077 Responds to GTA 6 Delay
Similar to when Rockstar released the second trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6, yesterday's news of a delay sent shockwaves through the internet, prompting responses from fans, brands, journalists, and just about everyone imaginable. Among the floods of comments was a response from the official Cyberpunk 2077 Twitter account, which simply linked to a statement from CD Projekt Red in October of 2020, which stated the RPG would not be delayed again. For those who might not remember that far back, Cyberpunk 2077 would go on to be delayed again.
Delays are always disappointing, especially when it comes to huge AAA games like Grand Theft Auto 6 or Cyberpunk 2077. However, the latter of the two makes a great case for delays being necessary. In total, Cyberpunk 2077 was delayed three times before its eventual launch in December 2020. Unfortunately, it probably could have done with even more delays, as the now beloved RPG had a myriad of issues, largely on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The title was riddled with so many bugs and glitches that PlayStation would ultimately remove it from its storefront until the problems were rectified.
While Cyberpunk 2077 will always go down as one of the worst launches in video game history, it also has one of the most iconic redemption stories. CD Projekt Red's dedication resulted in a complete turnaround for the futuristic RPG, which features Hollywood actor Keanu Reeves. Numerous updates for Cyberpunk 2077 rectified many of its issues and even overhauled the game's core gameplay systems in its big 2.0 update. The release of the highly anticipated Phantom Liberty expansion also took the game to new heights, with a brand-new storyline, features, and much more.
