An insider and content creator has claimed that developer Rockstar Games is extremely confident in the current release date for Grand Theft Auto 6, which means the heavily speculated second delay is unlikely to happen. Grand Theft Auto 6 was initially set to launch for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S in Fall 2025, but was unfortunately pushed back to May 2026. While many have speculated that a second delay is highly likely, it looks like that probably won't be the case.

After fans got their first official look at the title back in 2023 with Trailer 1, it was a big waiting game to see when Rockstar would reveal more. Rockstar Reportedly Confident That GTA 6 Won't Be Delayed Again

Between the Red Dead and Grand Theft Auto series, Rockstar has become well-known for its delays. While it's not always the case, the studio often delays its titles multiple times before they release, which has led many fans to become concerned that Grand Theft Auto 6 will be delayed for a second time, pushing the highly anticipated title even further into 2026. However, YouTuber Luke Stephens has reassured fans with some fresh information. In a new video, Stephens says he has spoken to somebody who works in the industry and is "pretty high up on the publishing side." According to this unnamed source, who reportedly knows developers at the studio, Rockstar Games is apparently "confident" that it will hit the May 26, 2026, release date for Grand Theft Auto 6.

It is important to take this information with a pinch of salt for the time being. While Stephens' source has reaffirmed Rockstar's confidence, it does contradict a rumor from back in July that claimed a second Grand Theft Auto 6 delay was likely. Alongside some potential pricing information, the leaker suggested that there was a good chance Rockstar could push Grand Theft Auto 6's release date from May 2026 to September 2026. Again, there's no way to know which information is accurate, so fans should take all of these rumors with a big pinch of salt.

Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, also appears to be confident in Grand Theft Auto 6's new release date. CEO Strauss Zelnick discussed the delay earlier this year, while also emphasizing that Rockstar is well-known for meeting its deadlines once an official release date is set. Zelnick has also reiterated multiple times now that he is confident in Rockstar's capabilities of meeting the May 26 release date.
