It's been almost two weeks since developer and publisher Rockstar Games released Grand Theft Auto 6 Trailer 2, and fans are still being blown away by some incredibly impressive visual details. Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on May 26, 2026, and looks set to push all three consoles to the absolute limit.
Fans of the critically acclaimed Grand Theft Auto series have had a stressful few years. After a monumental leak occurred in 2022, revealing early alpha footage from Grand Theft Auto 6, fans were eager to see more from the title in an official capacity. Rockstar addressed the unfortunate leak soon after, but refused to divulge any further information on the title until December 2023, when it finally revealed Grand Theft Auto 6 to the world with an internet-breaking trailer. Fans were then left in the dark for well over 500 days, with no word on the game from Rockstar Games. Then, less than two weeks ago, the studio shocked the world with a brand-new GTA 6 trailer, tons of details, and over 70 new screenshots.
Rockstar Insider Explains Why GTA 6 Delay Was ‘Necessary’
Rockstar’s recent decision to delay Grand Theft Auto 6 until 2026 has sparked a lot of discussion, but according to a trusted insider, the move was absolutely the right call. Originally expected in late 2025, the game’s release was pushed back to May 26, 2026—a shift that insiders say was crucial for maintaining the game’s quality. While fans were naturally disappointed, the blow was softened somewhat by the drop of a new trailer that once again showed off the game’s stunning visuals and ambitious scope.
GTA 6 Fans Blown Away by Trailer 2 Details
The record-breaking second trailer for Grand Theft Auto 6 has already racked up more than 475 million views across all social media platforms, so it's no surprise that fans are still picking out some of its most impressive details. In a new post on Reddit, user BoogaSnu pointed out that the power lines featured in Trailer 2 are incredibly detailed, with every cable and transformer rendered to the highest detail. The original poster called it "incredible," while others called it "impressive" and an "awesome detail." Some are even speculating that crashing into the poles in-game may cause power outages around Vice City.
The last Rockstar Games title to release was 2018's Red Dead Redemption 2, which fans have already been comparing to Grand Theft Auto 6. While 2013's Grand Theft Auto 5 was already massively impressive, especially for the PS3 and Xbox 360 era, Red Dead Redemption 2 blew many other games out of the water when it came to graphic fidelity. Many questioned whether or not Rockstar could top the visuals of Red Dead Redemption 2, but with Trailer 2 showcasing in-engine footage and gameplay, there's no denying that Grand Theft Auto 6 is likely going to become the pinnacle of graphic fidelity.
While Rockstar revealed a ton of new information surrounding the title with the release of Trailer 2, the studio's parent company, Take-Two Interactive, recently touched upon the title during a new quarterly earnings call. According to the company's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, Grand Theft Auto 6 began development "in earnest" in 2020. Given the CEO's phrasing, it's speculated that pre-production on the title likely began shortly after the launch of Red Dead Redemption 2 in 2018. If the theory is correct, Grand Theft Auto 6 will have been in development for seven or eight years by the time 2026 rolls around.
