Some fans think they spotted a classic Vice City character in the latest Grand Theft Auto 6 trailer. Earlier this week, Rockstar Games finally gave eager players another glimpse at the next GTA game, not too long after it was delayed until next year. This latest trailer was packed with new information, including the official confirmation that the male protagonist is named Jason as the past rumors claimed. Fans also got to see more of Grand Theft Auto 6’s story, which sees Jason reunite with his partner Lucia after the latter is released from prison.

From there, it doesn’t take Grand Theft Auto 6’s dual protagonists long to embark on a new crime spree across Vice City, a location all too familiar to longtime fans of Rockstar’s legendary open-world crime franchise. Modeled after Miami, Florida, Vice City has been a part of the series since the very first Grand Theft Auto game, and was the main setting for 2002’s GTA: Vice City and 2006’s Vice City Stories. While the version presented in the upcoming GTA 6 will be in a different continuity than those past entries, fans are still expecting to see a few callbacks and Easter eggs from its past iterations.

One of these could be the return of Phil Cassidy, an arms dealer who first appeared in Grand Theft Auto 3 and has cropped up in a few spin-offs since. Reddit user VX97 thinks they spotted him in the latest GTA 6 trailer promoting his gun store in an in-game commercial. Sure enough, the character in question bears a strong resemblance to Phil, and the shop he apparently works at does have his name on it.

Other Reddit users agree that the character’s looks and personality are a perfect match for Phil Cassidy, though some note that he isn’t missing the arm that he lost in the original Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. This could be explained by GTA 6 taking place in a different universe than the previous GTA games set in Vice City, one where Cassidy has yet to suffer the accident that cost him his missing limb.

Some other fans have theorized that the man in the GTA 6 trailer could instead be Phil’s son running the store that his father set up. In any case, it looks like Jason and Lucia might be able to buy weapons from him in Grand Theft Auto 6, and there could even be a side mission or two centered around the hillbilly gun merchant that fans first met back in the PS2 era of the Grand Theft Auto series.
