Grand Theft Auto Online's heists may be the biggest attraction for most players, but new modes like Cayo Perico Zombie Survival are letting players experience their favorite locations in a new light. While Survival playlists are nothing new in GTA Online, Cayo Perico Zombie Survival is a huge twist on the classic wave-based defense mode with free rewards to earn.
Cayo Perico Zombie Survival pits players against more than just brain-dead zombies, however. Conquistadors armed with muskets, panther trainers, and other undead variants have taken over the island of Cayo Perico, so you'll need a solid strategy to make it to the airstrip and escape the island alive. Here's how you can start the new Cayo Perico Zombie Survival mode in GTA Online.

How to Play Cayo Perico Zombie Survival in GTA Online
You can access Cayo Perico Zombie Survival in GTA Online just like any other playlist. You can queue up for Cayo Perico Zombie Survival from anywhere on the map by choosing the Cayo Perico Series playlist on your in-game phone. You can also head down to the Los Santos airport where you'll find a palm tree icon on the map that'll launch the Cayo Perico Series as well.
During the launch window, GTA Online players can earn bonus rewards for playing Cayo Perico Zombie Survival. The Cayo Perico Series rewards double GTA$ and RP through September 10, 2025, with GTA+ members earning quadruple rewards. Anyone who manages to survive all 10 waves will earn the Buccaneer outfit plus GTA$100,000 during the same time period.
Even if you miss the bonus reward window, you can still earn the I Survived Cayo Perico Tee just by playing Cayo Perico Zombie Survival for the first time. There aren't any other requirements, so you can just hop in and play a few waves to test the waters. You can even try the mode solo if you don't want to matchmake with randoms or go through the trouble of finding a group.
Cayo Perico Zombie Survival is a permanent mode in GTA Online, so there's no need to worry about it going away. If anything, it'll likely pop up as a featured mode again in the future with bonus GTA$ and RP rewards. The annual GTA Online Halloween event seems like the perfect time for that.
