Summary
- GTA Online offers a wide array of custom game modes created by players, providing endless fun and excitement outside of the main game.
GTA Online is a great game. A big part of what makes this game great is the countless game modes that players have come up with. Like Halo, GTA Online has a custom game creator that allows players to make special maps that intertwine with Los Santos.
Some of these games take players high above the city in cars flying at amazing speeds while some take players to massive hills where countless falling items challenge their dexterity. Whatever type of game players choose to take on, they can bet that they will have a blast doing it.
Updated July 27, 2023, by Callum Murray: GTA Online is jam packed with different game modes for players to discover at their leisure. Players can create new game modes along with maps, so that other gamers can enjoy them. If gamers want to make use of these games, heading over to the Rockstar app is the first port of call. If a game is not of interest, the player can filter them out, but most games are a great bit of fun that takes the player away from the hustle and bustle of the main game.
18 Busted
Childhood games were always the best ones, and nostalgia always plays a part when remembering how good these games were. A game to look out for is Busted, and it involves the player assuming the roles of cops and robbers.
The gamer can be a single criminal, or they can play in teams. In the main story mode, there's nothing better than being chased around by the cops. In this custom game, it takes it to the next level of excitement when doing this. It's hard to imagine that any Grand Theft Auto purist wouldn't love this custom game, it's the best fun ever.
17 The Weakest Link
If chaos is what gamers want from their sessions on GTA: Online, look no further than The Weakest Link. The game has a very straightforward premise, you have checkpoints to drive through in a timed scenario.
If the player doesn’t reach the checkpoint in the sufficient time, they get thrown out of the game. Less time is available as the gamer progresses through all the checkpoints. If you are the weakest link-it's goodbye, as the famous quiz show once told its contestants. It's a tense game but very fun, especially if it's played against friends.
16 Qub3d
Tetris springs to mind when playing this brilliantly entertaining custom game. Qub3d has been around since Grand Theft Auto 4, but it arrived in GTA: Online during the Los Santos Summer Special update.
Blocks come rushing down, and the task is to match the colored blocks together before running out of space and the screen is filled up. Points are gained by doing this and that allows the player to progress to the next level. Sometimes it's nice to have a breather from getting chased by the cops and shooting innocent bystanders because they get in the way, and what better way to do this than playing a reworking of a classic arcade game.
15 Avalanche
Avalanche is exactly how it sounds, an avalanche. The difference from a normal avalanche is that this one involves a team of players running up a large hill while avoiding objects falling from the sky. While one team is busy trying to avoid objects that will send them to their doom, another team is trying to cause that doom.
The other team is perched high up on a platform where they shoot floating objects with sniper rifles to make them fall. This game mode keeps players on their toes to avoid getting crushed by the oncoming Rhino Tank.
14 Snipers Vs. Stunters
This is a game mode that is great for people who like fast cars but hate the nitty-gritty racing scene. This game mode is another that puts two teams against each other, one a team of snipers, the other a team of drivers. The drivers fly down large hills or at ramps to jump over a platform where the snipers are waiting.
Their goal is to hit the snipers off the platform. The sniper team is tasked with trying to kill the drivers as they jump over the platform. This is done with a bunch of different weapons like sniper rifles, RPGs, and grenade launchers.
13 Demolition Derby
In a demolition derby, there is only one rule; the last man standing wins. Demolition derby maps vary depending on who makes them. Some of these maps can be large domes, while others can have players fighting high up in the air. They all have one thing in common, destroy the other drivers.
Each player chooses their car and slams into one another just like in a real demolition derby. What could be more fun with a group of friends than pushing them off a cliff in a high-end sports car?
12 4x4 Parkour
4x4 Parkour is one of the more popular game modes that players tend to post videos of. Creators create maps using the stunt race game mode, but they add some interesting twists and turns to it. These maps are interesting because of the difficulty that some of them can possess.
Some of these maps have massive jumps, tricky platforms, stair climbing, and more. Players looking to test their skills should give some of these maps a try. These maps can show even the most experienced drivers that they need to learn a thing or two.
11 High-speed Demolition Derby
Like the traditional demolition derby game mode, players will be smashing into one another and attempting to cause some crazy mayhem. The big difference in the high-speed version is that there is a set speed limit that must be obeyed.
That doesn't mean that the players need to go the speed limit but rather go over it. Any player that gets caught going under the speed limit for too long will explode. That is an extra layer of fear to go along with the already constant anxiety of getting a car destroyed.
10 Bomberman
Remember that classic game Bomberman? Many players loved the idea of running through a small walled-in area, placing bombs, and trying to take out the other players. This GTA Online game mode takes the classic Bomberman style and gives it a tune-up.
This game mode puts players into two teams, the bombers and the runners. The runners hop in their cars and take to the streets, making turns, and avoiding the inevitable explosion that is bound to happen. The bomber team is tasked with dropping bombs from above to destroy the runners. This is an exciting game mode that really helps spice up a classic.
9 Deadline
Bomberman was covered, so now it is time to cover Tron. The deadline game mode takes the classic light cycle game from Tron and puts players against each other in a large arena.
Players get on their Shotaro motorcycles and take to the arena where their cycles leave trails of hard light. Hitting one of these trails will instantly kill a player, but these trails are only so long. Players will need to be careful where they travel or risk getting killed by someone else.
