A GTA Online player experienced a glitch wiith a police helicopter that ended with hilarious results. The moment may have been due to lag in GTA Online, but it's nonetheless funny to see play out.

While GTA Online is an extremely popular game, it's hardly without glitches and bugs. Players have been complaining about issues in GTA Online for years, with one player notably getting so fed up that they personally found a fix for a bottleneck in GTA Online's boot sequence that was making it take much longer to get into the game than it should.

GTA Online Player Shares Neat Trick to Disarm Bounty Targets

A GTA Online player comes across a simple yet highly effective method to disarm and apprehend bounty targets with ease.

In this particular glitch's case, one player had a very strange encounter with GTA' s cops. The clip, shared on Reddit by franklin20221401, starts with the player shooting at something down the street when a police helicopter lands on the ground directly in front of them. However, instead of the cops scrambling out, or firing at the player, they simply remain seated. The OP goes to drag the pilot out, but ends up miming the action, with the pilot still in place. After shooting one of the cops, a driver behind the player freaks out and runs them over, and the helicopter poofs out of existence. Before the player gets much of a chance to do anything, the same helicopter suddenly falls out of the sky, and the tail crushes and kills them.

GTA Online Helicopter Likely Had Some Help

While there are issues that can arise in GTA Online with AI, in this particular case, lag was likely the culprit. Severe lag can see vehicles suddenly stop or, in the case of flying vehicles, suddenly drop to the ground like this. It's further cemented by the player trying to remove the pilot to no avail. It's not entirely clear why the helicopter drops to the ground at the very end again, but it's possible that the game momentarily regained a solid enough connection to download new data, only for the lag to take effect again.

With that said, there are plenty of glitches in GTA Online that can potentially transpire even without lag. Players have reported random explosions, odd frame-rate drops that make GTA Online look like Into the Spider-Verse, casino dealers randomly vanishing into thin air, mechanics and NPCs getting run over during cutscenes, and so on. While getting killed by random moments like this can be annoying, most GTA players are likely accustomed to the sheer chaos that can break loose in the game, whether due to lag, glitches, or the simple nature of an open-world title that lets players run wild with everything from pistols to weaponized submarines.
