While players can technically enjoy their Grand Theft Auto Online experience just cruising around the city and doing the occasional crime, the game does have Statistics players can level up to increase their character’s overall performance. Chief among them is Strength, which determines the player’s resilience and physical power.

No matter if it's a Muscle, a Super, or a Sport, these cars are the must-haves in the garage of any Grand Theft Auto Online player.

With high enough Strength, players can tank more hits and be more skilled in melee combat, sports, and even speed up their ladder climbing. However, Strength is also among the harder Statistics to raise in a player’s GTA Online experience. Thankfully, the endeavor is not impossible if players know just which steps to take.

Good Old Fashioned Punching

Fighting Barehanded Raises Strength

A fistfight in GTA Online

Similar to systems used by games such as The Elder Scrolls, fans can improve a character’s Strength the more often they end up in brawls. However, due to the popularity of using weapons like guns in the game, there won’t be a lot of opportunities for players to punch their way past opponents.

This is something players should take advantage of, as Strength will increase by 1% whenever players land 20 punches on someone. The experience gain affects both AI pedestrians and rival players, which means players may as well get a friend online and they can trade punches to ensure they level each other up.

Fail The Bar Resupply

It’s All About The Failed Delivery

A bar in GTA Online

When players install The Criminal Enterprises DLC for their GTA Online experience, getting the Motorcycle Club Clubhouse Bar can give players access to the “Bar Resupply” mission. This is a repeatable mission where players need to collect supplies and deliver them back to the Clubhouse. Ideally, they need the resupply mission where players need to intimidate an NPC to provide them with the location of the supplies.

Getting the mission can just have players punch the guy until the mission fails due to time running out - but by then, players would have kept their progress from punching the guy. Players can spam this mission to level up their Strength as soon as possible. The only caveat here is that players may waste some time re-upping the mission once they don’t get their desired mission parameters.

Get A Helping Hand

Cheat One’s Way To Strength Gains

Fistfighting in GTA Online

While it’s natural for the criminal minds of GTA Online to be distrustful of each other, players will most likely make gangs and alliances for mutual survival - something that could be useful in gaining more Strength in the game. Similar to the idea of power leveling with another character carrying the player, this concept involves taking another player and punching the smithereens out of them.

Active Aero in GTA Online

Among the many features, the active aero system is a unique one in GTA Online but it is limited to a certain number of vehicles.

Well, in this case, it’s “almost” punching. Players simply need to get their friend’s character in a car and for players to start punching that car endlessly for around 10 minutes. This should make the game think as though players are targeting the character inside the vehicle, making the movement eligible for the Strength gained on punches. Players can then do the same, where their character sits inside the vehicle while their friend punches the car. They can even talk about what happened at school or work while they take turns!

Spam A Titan Of A Job

No Need To Steal A Plane

Plane on the runway

Players who want a relatively easy way of boosting their Strength should consider letting their fists do much of the work for them. After equipping a sharp-tipped Knuckle Duster from Ammu-Nation, they can select the Online Mission called “A Titan of a Job” created by Rockstar that opens at Rank 24.

This mission requires players to steal a Titan plane that Merryweather Security wants to use to expand its operations in Los Santos. Ideally, players should go to the Los Santos International Airport to officially do this part of the mission. However, the game won’t make players gain Wanted Levels until they actually get to the Airport. This means players can just go to a high-pedestrian area and start punching NPCs or even other players to gain experience.

Abuse Pier Pressure

Fight Everyone At The Beach

Cityscape in GTA Online

A similar mission to “A Titan of the Job” would be “Pier Pressure,” this time provided by GTA 5 minor character Gerald who ends up becoming a major character in GTA Online. This time around, players need to intercept the drug meeting between the Lost and the Vagos. Ideally, players are tasked to kill all the Lost and the Vagos involved in the meeting and get the contraband in Gerald’s apartment.

However, what players can do is head to the Del Perro Beach close to the pier meetup site and start a rampage there. Since the mission doesn’t provide a Wanted Level in Del Perro Beach, players can technically just start punching NPCs repeatedly until they get maximum Strength.

Stall Death Metal

Another Way To Abuse No-Wanted Level Missions

Death Metal Mission

Another mission from Gerald that players can abuse in their Grand Theft Auto Online gameplay would be “Death Metal,” where players need to sabotage a drug deal between an unnamed crew (revealed to be the Professionals) and the Ballas in the Rogers Salvage and Scrap Yard. Players should ideally get the shipment back to Gerald’s apartment, but since there are no Wanted Levels throughout the mission, players can also delay this mission to enjoy a bit of Strength training.

With Wanted Levels turned off, players can get to the closest location where there are a lot of civilians to start punching them. The beach is always an effective spot to do this, where players just need to punch an NPC and move on to the next one in line.

Join A Fists-Only Deathmatch

For Fun, For Co-Leveling

Fistfights in GTA Online

Thanks to Deathmatch, players of GTA Online can find themselves in all-out fights against each other, other teams, or even with vehicles in setups of their own design. Thanks to the Content Creator, players can create an assortment of Deathmatches with settings ranging from number of teams (if any), target scores (if any), visible healthbars, locked weapons, or forced weapons.

Fast Bikes IN GTA Online
12 Fastest Bikes In GTA Online

GTA Online possesses a collection of speedy bikes for players to zip around the city. These are some of the fastest.

In turn, it’s no surprise if some players might find themselves in complicated Deathmatch setups where fists are the only weapons they’re available to use - after all, it’s still fun just seeing GTA characters punch each other to death.

It’s also very likely that other players also figured out that fist-fighting is one of the best ways to increase their Strength Statistic in GTA Online - making the possibility of finding or even creating a fists-only Deathmatch more plausible for players.

Create A Survival Mission

Test A Game To Oblivion

Players in GTA Online Survival Mode

Thanks to the Content Creator, players can create a wide variety of content for other GTA Online players to try - one of which is the Survival Mission. As the name implies, Survival allows players to create scenarios where waves upon waves of enemies can appear across the map for players to fight with a wide variety of armaments - giving rise to popular zombie Survival maps that teams of players can indulge in for fun.

However, players can actually max out their Strength just by creating a Survival scenario. In the Content Creator, players should set up a Survival mission with barehanded enemies at low difficulties. Players should then test the Survival mission, with the game dropping them into the scenario for them to “try” out. Despite this activity being a mere trial run, characters can actually record increasing their Strength after the test.

Close The Metro For A Fistfight

Brute-Force NPCs Into A Chokehold

Subway in GTA Online

One of the most popular ways for players to improve their Strength is through punching NPCs - but with how vast Los Santos and the rest of the game world is, it’s just impossible to conveniently encounter a cluster of NPCs in a GTA Online area at any given time. Thankfully, players do have locations where NPCs just naturally group together: the metro station. With a conveniently placed large vehicle along its entrance or exit, players can “trap” NPCs in a metro station… all conveniently waiting for a character’s fists.

Doing this strategy should give players some wiggle room to gather NPCs toward a nearby location where they can start punching them. There should also come a time when NPCs just start respawning, while a few lucky others manage to exit the location. Players who spend enough time in this locked metro area will likely be able to raise their Strength significantly before switching to a new activity.

Get Golfing

A Casual Sport That Improves Strength

Golfing in GTA Online

Most sports are geared toward improving one’s body, and in a game like Grand Theft Auto Online, players might be surprised to learn that Golf is among their most popular minigames… and ways to improve Strength. As it turns out, the higher the player’s Strength, the longer their drives become in a Golf match.

To play Golf, players need to open the activity via the map. The mini-game then loads and allows players to confirm their preferred settings. Players are able to invite their friends, compete with other players, or play by themselves. As with other golf games, players need to determine their trajectory, time their shots, and get the ball into the hole in as few turns as possible.
