Michael DeSanta was the only member of the three protagonists for Grand Theft Auto 5 to not feature in GTA Online. That was, until now. With the A Safehouse in the Hills update in December 2025, players will not only have access to an (expensive) mansion, but they will also unlock the requirements needed to complete a unique mission with Michael DeSanta, played by the original actor Ned Luke.
However, Michael isn't just going to call you up and get ready to do business. Instead, there are a few things you need to do first. Below, we've quickly outlined the easy steps for you to follow to ensure you can complete Michael's mission in GTA Online.
How to Get a Mansion in GTA Online
GTA Online introduces mansions that players can own. We'll show you what they come with and how much they cost so you can see if they're worth it.
How to Start the Michael Mission in GTA Online
To begin, it's worth mentioning that you will need to own a mansion to access Michael's mission in GTA Online. The cheapest mansion is the Tongva Estate for $11,500,000 (or $9.5 million if you completed the New Listings missions).
To get the Michael mission in GTA Online, you must complete all 5 KnoWay Out missions from Avi Schwartzman. These missions can be started from the main menu of GTA Online, noted by the "Knoway Out" tab. Alternatively, you can find the start of each mission by heading to the big golden A on the map, with the first being at the gas station in Little Seoul / Calais Avenue.
We've listed the locations below, and on the map above, to provide you with a clear picture:
- KnoWay Out #1 - Negative Press (Located at Echo Rock, Alta Street)
- KnoWay Out #2 - Inside Job (Located at Luxury Autos, Alleyway)
- KnoWay Out #3 - Tunnel Vision (Located at LSIA, Terminal 1, Caipira)
- KnoWay Out #4 - Trash Talking (Located at Forum Drive)
- KnoWay Out #5 - A Clean Break (Located at Totally Rental, Carson Avenue and Strawberry Avenue)
After you have completed these 5 KnoWay Out missions from Avi Schwartzman and completed your mansion intro cutscene, you will soon be given a new Job List invite on your phone from Avi Schwartzman that reads "Invite to Home Sweet Home". Click the Job List and interact with it to begin the mission with Michael DeSanta.
So far, there is only one Michael mission titled "Home Sweet Home". It's likely that there will be more Michael missions to come in the near future, whether that's through drip-feed content or a later update before the release of Grand Theft Auto 6.
