Grand Theft Auto fans can now get GTA Online included with a GTA+ subscription, alongside a bevy of other perks. While all eyes are now turning to GTA 6 ahead of its May 2026 release (barring another delay), Rockstar isn't leaving its older titles in the dust. While the last Grand Theft Auto title may be over a decade old, GTA+ is offering new benefits to those still playing its online component, and it may hint at things to come down the line.
Despite the long gap between Grand Theft Auto 5 and the upcoming sixth entry, the series is still going strong. The GTA franchise is quickly approaching half a billion copies sold, with GTA 5 accounting for nearly half of those total sales at a staggering 215 million units sold since its 2013 release. Much of that success is likely due to regular updates to GTA Online, and now anyone subscribing to GTA+ can get even more out of it.
GTA 6 Online's New Requirement Could Have Massive Implications
Grand Theft Auto 6’s rumored compliance with new international laws means a large change is probably coming to the next iteration of GTA Online.
GTA Online Is Now Included in GTA+
Rockstar has announced that GTA+ subscriptions will now include full access to GTA Online on current-gen consoles. The company first unveiled GTA+ in 2022 and was met with some skepticism from fans, which intensified when the subscription price rose $2 to $7.99 a month in 2024. Since then, though, the service has grown to include access to the first three Grand Theft Auto games, Bully, Red Dead Redemption, L.A. Noire, and more, on top of several in-game perks. Now the live-service side of the fifth Grand Theft Auto joins those ranks.
In addition to adding GTA Online to the service's game lineup, Rockstar is giving GTA+ users several limited-time benefits. From now until December 8, subscribers can claim an Enus Paragon S sports car, two new Chameleon vehicle paints, and will be guaranteed to loot diamonds for every score they take in the Diamond Casino Heist. Considering how GTA Online just gave away another free in-game car, there's a lot for fans to collect these days. GTA+ subscribers will also get the Buckingham Luxor Deluxe plane and Buckingham Swift Deluxe helicopter for 50% off and will automatically get a camo Jack Sheepe apparel set in their wardrobes.
This wave of new benefits, especially the GTA Online inclusion, has made some wonder if it's a sign of things to come for the next Grand Theft Auto. It's rumored that GTA 6's online mode is already in late development and could see a smoother launch than the current iteration of GTA Online did. If this new precedent continues into the next generation, Rockstar could let fans play GTA 6 Online with a GTA+ subscription, offering a way to experience the game without buying the base single-player version. Doing so could help maintain strong sales figures even if GTA 6 launches with a steep price tag, as some fear it might. Of course, any such predictions are uncertain for now, and it's entirely possible that Rockstar is not planning on bringing GTA 6's multiplayer mode to GTA+ or that it plans to do so years down the line.
GTA+ Benefits Keep Growing
Regardless of what happens with Grand Theft Auto 6, the GTA+ platform has greatly expanded since its debut in 2022. In GTA Online, subscribers get:
- A monthly deposit of GTA$500,000
- A 15% GTA$ bonus with member-only Shark Cards
- Access to the Vinewood Club Garage, which holds up to 100 cars
- Discounts on some in-game items
- Bonus GTA$ in some missions
- Monthly limited-time rewards
GTA Online is the only game in the lineup to come with benefits like these right now, so players can't expect similar perks in Red Dead Redemption or GTA 3. However, the service is always changing, so it's worth keeping an eye on. It is worth noting that fans still need either PS Plus or Xbox Game Pass on top of a GTA+ subscription, as the service requires an online multiplayer connection. In light of Xbox Game Pass' recent price hike, that may make GTA+ seem a little less cheap than it may initially appear.
