Players of Grand Theft Auto Online know how tricky things can get once they start going wild with their vehicles, especially with the Los Santos Police Department on their trail. Thankfully, fans of GTA Online who want to unleash vehicular hell on other players will finally be able to do so in Vehicle Vendetta, an Adversary Mode that sounds exactly like it reads.

Vehicle Vendetta takes players of two teams in certain regions of a map where they can duke it out with certain vehicles, weapons, and powers-up. It’s the straightforward nature of the game mode that makes it such a fun thing to do, with players not only needing to eliminate opponents but keep them and their team safe from other obstacles as well. How exactly can players dominate in Vehicle Vendetta?

7 Vehicle Vendetta: The Basics

A car with machine guns

Unlike other Adversary Modes in GTA Online that give players the opportunity to eliminate each other in bloody mayhem, Vehicle Vendetta adds a spin to the concept: vehicles. Not only that, but maps within Vehicle Vendetta work two ways. The original Vehicle Vendetta mode happens on platforms above a region of the map, while Vehicle Vendetta Street happens in enclosed streets of a map.

Here are other things to consider when it comes to this mode's mechanics:

  • Win Condition: Depending on the game host, a Vehicle Vendetta Mode can be won either by most points won or the one with the most kills.
  • Setup: Two teams enter “the arena,” which is the enclosed map region in the game. They start on opposite sides of the area with a sports car of their choosing, equipped with twin machine guns.
  • Objective: Quite simply, players in Vehicle Vendetta duke it out while inside their cars to eliminate enemies as often as possible. Players do need to take note that ring outs also count as penalties against their team.

6 Mind The Power-Ups

A special upgrade in Vehicle Vendetta

Like other racing death games, Vehicle Vendetta Mode in GTA Online does give players the opportunity to secure the advantage through various power-ups. These come in the form of extra weapon upgrades, simple buffs, to whopping transformations that can easily turn the tide of battle. These power-ups include:

  • Beast: Transforms the user into a Rhino Tank for 30 seconds.
  • Bomb: Places up to three bombs around the area to destroy enemies.
  • Detonator: Removes objects and obstacles in the arena.
  • Deadline: Transforms the user into a Nagasaki Shotaro, including its destructive light trail, for 15 seconds.
  • Flipped: Reverses the controls of the enemy, including steering, acceleration, and braking.
  • Ghost: Gives user translucency for ten seconds. They can use this to avoid deadline trails and even steal power-ups by driving through enemies.
  • Jammed: Forcibly turns on the accelerator for enemies for five seconds.
  • Repair: Boosts the user’s Health back to maximum.
  • Rockets: Unleashes rockets to oncoming targets.
  • Zoned: Slows time for all players for five seconds.
  • Random: Collects any power-up except the Detonator.

5 Keep Moving

Drivign Around the Battlefield

One of the best ways to win Vehicle Vendetta is to keep moving, especially since a lot of the power-ups that damage players will require aiming anyway. It’s hard enough to move a vehicle, so it’s reasonable that aiming with the built-in machine guns could be tricky as well.

Players will want to move around as often as possible to avoid being aimed at by opponents and still have a bit of legroom to move out of other obstacles. Practice quick drifts, reversals, and fast turns to secure the movement advantage as often as possible.

4 Stay Sharp For Warnings

The Beast in Vehiicle Vendetta

One of the most useful features of Vehicle Vendetta is how the game warns the players if an enemy team acquires a powerful power-up, particularly the Beast and Deadline. This should give players ample time to prepare their defenses or even dodge throughout the game mode’s spectacular areas.

Once the warnings arrive, the best course of action is to try and steer clear of these vehicles to ensure they don’t get as much use from their power-ups as possible. It’s also useful to apply the derailing tactic here, since transformed enemies will likely be careless and want to secure points. This is probably the best time to lead them into ring-outs.

3 Check For Pitfalls

A platform in Vehicle Vendetta

When in the standard Vehicle Vendetta Mode, most of its arenas have pitfalls that are practically instant death traps for players who aren’t careful. Considering how some vehicles are tricky to navigate once stuck in these holes, players need to stay sharp and stay clear them as much as possible.

It’s also interesting as how this mechanic could be used to the player’s advantage as well. When fighting against a particularly persistent opponent, players may instead want to lure them close enough to a pitfall to force them over before even managing to capture the player.

2 Practice Inverted Controls

Vehicles racing in Vehicle Vendetta

The Flipped is easily one of the most annoying power-ups in the game since it flips the controls for player characters. In arenas above the sky, this is almost always an invitation to fall off a gravity pit, since it’s tricky for players to dodge obstacles when their controls are warped.

To avoid this mishap, players might want to practice using inverted controls to anticipate such a scenario. That way, adjusting to the Flipped Power Up becomes much easier, and players may even surprise opponents by this unexpected occurrence.

1 Consider The Manual Respawn

Racing in Vehicle Vendetta

When players find themselves stuck and unable to move in obstacles, they can perform a manual respawn by holding their button assigned to enter/exit the vehicle. This is an extremely useful strategy when dealing with certain power-ups while driving.

For instance, players who got stuck in an area due to the vehicle acceleration effect of the Deadline Power Up can manually respawn their way back to the road. Likewise, players derailed by the Beast Power Up can strafe left and right before performing the manual respawn to return to a more stable position.
