Hasta La Vista, a popular adversary game mode in Grand Theft Auto Online, has been removed from the live service title just one week after it made its triumphant return. Like many other modes in Grand Theft Auto Online, Hasta La Vista has been in and out of rotation ever since it was released in 2015, but its most recent removal comes just one week after its return.
With Grand Theft Auto Online now fast approaching its eleventh anniversary, the hugely popular multiplayer title has seen a monumental number of new content updates over the years. With so many game modes, races, missions, and more for players to check out, it's become a common occurrence for Rockstar Games to remove content from Grand Theft Auto Online. Although the studio very rarely gives any explanation as to why specific pieces of content have been removed, it's likely to avoid spreading the player base across a plethora of different modes and creating matchmaking issues.
Rockstar Reportedly Tried Lowballing Band for GTA 6 Song
Rockstar reportedly tried lowballing an established band for indefinite rights to use one of their songs in Grand Theft Auto 6.
The most recent Grand Theft Auto Online mode to be removed from the game is Hasta La Vista, a popular 2v2 adversary mode that sees one team race to the finish line on bicycles while the opposing team uses Hauler trucks to stop them from reaching their objective. While the mode has become a staple of the live service game since it debuted in 2015, the most recent Grand Theft Auto Online update, which was deployed on September 12, completely removed it from the game, just one week after it had returned.
Rockstar Continues to Remove Popular GTA Online Modes
As the release of Grand Theft Auto 6 inches closer and closer with each passing day, fans continue to speculate on what the future holds for Grand Theft Auto Online. While there's a strong chance that the upcoming sequel will feature its very own online component, Rockstar Games still appears to be committed to supporting Grand Theft Auto Online for the foreseeable future, with the game's most recent content update being released back in June.
But while Rockstar continues to update Grand Theft Auto Online with new missions and vehicles, it's also proven that it's not afraid to remove content either. Back in August, the studio removed almost two dozen missions from the game with no explanation as to why. With popular adversary modes such as Assault on Cayo Perico being a part of the giant purge, fans were rightly annoyed by the lack of communication from Rockstar. This also comes after Grand Theft Auto Online suddenly lost a quarter of its vehicles in June of 2023.
