Guntouchables was always meant to be played in multiplayer. Playing solo is perfectly fine, but if you want to have fun with friends, or if you want to tackle the harder difficulties and modifiers, then playing the game in co-op is the best thing to do.
Thankfully, setting up a lobby for you and your friends to play Guntouchables in is pretty simple. To make things even better, there are a couple of ways to join a lobby, so if one method fails, you'll always have another to fall back to. In this guide, we'll be going over what you need to know about how Guntouchables multiplayer works.
Best Co-Op Games for Two Players, Ranked
There’s something uniquely satisfying about games that are designed only for two players.
Guntouchables: How to Host and Join Multiplayer Games
Like in some other four-player co-op games, you'll find a server browser once you enter the Multiplayer menu of the game. Here, you'll find all the active lobbies in your region, and all of them will likely be hosted by strangers. You should be able to join any of them that isn't already full, but if you want to play only with your friends, you'll need to create your own lobby.
At the bottom-right of the Multiplayer menu is the Create Lobby button with an optional Public Game checkbox. Uncheck the latter, then hit the Create Lobby button to make a private game for your buddies. To join a friend-hosted private lobby, you can do either of the following:
- Invite someone or Join via Steam's friends list.
- Use a lobby code.
Every private match is assigned a lobby code, which room hosts can find on the upper-right side of their lobby, just above the player list. Click on that to copy the code, then send it to whoever you want to play with. This will let you play matches with people even you aren't friends with them on Steam.
Speaking of Steam, if joining a private game via Steam's friends list fails, then you can always use a lobby code to join instead. What makes lobby code joining so good is that if Guntouchables ever releases on other consoles, you'll still be able to connect with people easily even if they arent on PC (assuming the game does get released for other consoles and that it gets cross-play support).
Guntouchables Multiplayer Options
You can host any of the missions you've unlocked as well as Weekly Expeditions when hosting a private lobby. However, your available options will depend on your personal account progress. If anything is unavailable, you may need to meet their prerequisites first.
The cool thing about multiplayer lobbies is that you can still play solo here instead of the Singleplayer option at the main menu. There are two key differences here, though:
- You cannot pause multiplayer games, even if you're playing alone.
- You will be accompanied by a full team of bots instead of just one drone.
As of writing, the bots will only follow players around while shooting pistols at anything that comes near. They're functionally the same as the drone in Singleplayer mode, but here, you get three of them. The bots can get downed if they take enough hits, but they passively regenerate health when they get damaged. Still, they're a big help for solo-only players who want to play Guntouchables by themselves.
