Of all the gods in Hades 2, Apollo boons are some of the game's most powerful. With Apollo's best boon, players can set-and-forget their Omega Cast for ridiculous damage, but the other Apollo boons in Hades 2 are far from lacking.
Best Boons in Hades 2, Ranked
New and returning Gods in Hades 2 will offer Melinoë boons to help her accomplish her task – these are the best Boons for any build.
Apollo's main status effect is Daze, which gives enemies a 20% chance to miss for 9 seconds. This guide does not include Duo boons that require the God of Light – just the best boons Apollo offers on his own.
Because Hades 2 is only available in Early Access, this list of all Apollo boons in Hades 2 may be incomplete, and will likely expand over time. This guide to the best Hades 2 Apollo boons will be updated to reflect patches and balance changes as the game approaches its 1.0 version.
Situational: Back Burner
Back Burner is not necessarily the worst Apollo boon in Hades 2, but it is one that's virtually worthless (and possibly not even available) unless you have something to inflict Daze. With this, Dazed Foes Take More Damage When Struck From Behind.
There are a lot of Apollo boons that inflict the status effect Daze, and Back Burner is meant to interact with them. But because it's dependent on other Apollo boons, many of which offer more useful effects even without the Daze limitation, Back Burner should not be your first choice.
9 Perfect Image
Deal More Damage Until You Take Damage
There's nothing really wrong with the Perfect Image boon. It grants you a boost to your damage output with all moves until you take your first instance of damage. With other boons that provide Dodge, Armor, or other ways to avoid being hit directly, it can go a long way.
Hades 2: All Wretched Broker Items
The Wretched Broker is one of the NPCs in Hades 2 that you can purchase items from, and its full stock will need to be unlocked.
But this is an ability that requires you to never get hit which, unless you are a God-like player, is nearly impossible in later stages. Avoid taking Perfect Image unless you have a lot of ways to avoid taking hits.
8 Light Smite
After Taking Damage, Retaliate & Cause Daze On All Foes
Like Perfect Image, Light Smite is a boon that is built around Melinoë taking damage. Unlike Perfect Image, this boon doesn't require you to avoid taking damage, and will likely proc constantly.
However, it's not good to build around this boon because the damage you take is not worth the relatively minor retaliation damage and Daze effect, even if it does apply to all enemies.
7 Dazzling Display
Attacks May Inflict Daze
Of all the abilities that inflict Daze on enemies, the Dazzling Display is one of two that are worth picking up. It doesn't require you to take damage (or avoid taking damage), instead, it just inflicts Daze with your regular and Omega Attacks.
Hades 2: What To Unlock First
There are a lot of useful items and new features in Hades 2 – these are the five you should focus on unlocking first.
Take this over other Daze-inflicting options, but keep in mind that Daze is one of the weaker status effects in Hades 2, and it might be better to pick up one of the other best Apollo boons.
6 Blinding Sprint
Sprint Faster & Inflict Daze On Nearby Enemies
Blinding Sprint
Blinding Sprint is arguably the best Apollo Daze boon because it both increases your Sprint speed and automatically inflicts Daze on enemies as you rush by them. Unlike some other boons, though, Blinding Sprint doesn't use Magick.
If you don't already have a better Sprint boon (like Hestia's Soot Sprint), Blinding Sprint is not a bad choice at all, and the chance to make enemies miss from Daze is a nice bonus to your vastly increased speed.
5 Extra Dose
Attacks Have A Chance To Hit Twice
Extra Dose is an Apollo boon that gives your regular Attacks a chance to hit twice, but it's not a very high chance. At common, the chance is 5%, and at Epic it's 10%. That can be increased with Poms of Power, sure, but it's still a bit underwhelming.
Hades 2 Bath Salts Gift Guide (All Bath Scenes)
Here are all of the characters in Hades 2 who can receive Bath Salts and join Melinoe for a much-needed soak in the Crossroads Hot Springs.
Pick up Extra Dose if you are using fast weapons like the Torches or Lim and Oros, or if you have already built heavily into an Attack build and want to add another bonus.
4 Lucid Gain
While Standing In Your Casts, Restore Magick
Lucid Gain is a powerful Magick-regenerating boon in Hades 2, but it's not the best of all the options available to Melinoë. This is because, though it grants a large amount of Magick per second, it requires you to stand inside of your casts.
Standing inside of one's Casts is not always the best idea, especially if you are trying to CC a huge group of enemies. Instead of using your Cast to keep enemies in place for AoE damage, stand in the middle of your Casts and attack enemies as they enter the ring for maximum Magick regen potential.
3 Nova Flourish & Nova Strike
Deal More Damage In A Larger Area
Nova Flourish and Nova Strike are two sides of the same coin.
- Nova Flourish increases your Special damage and the area that Specials deal damage
- Nova Strike increases your Attack damage and the the size of your Attacks
Hades 2: How To Get Moon Dust
Moon Dust is an important resource in Hades 2 that is used to upgrade one of the game's new core systems – Arcanas.
Depending on which of the Nocturnal Arms you are wielding, and what other boons you have to support either Specials or Attacks, either one of these is worth picking up.
If you find one of these early in a run, they aren't bad options to start building around either – just look for other boons that work with Specials and Attacks to find synergies between them.
2 Super Nova
Casts Expand Until They Expire
Super Nova is arguably one of the best Apollo boons Hades 2 players can get for two reasons: the effectiveness of Casts, and the sheer size that this thing gets to. When selected, Super Nova makes your Cast double in size over its duration, ensnaring more enemies as it expands outward.
Cast builds are some of the most powerful in Hades 2. I f you use this with boons like Hephaestus' three-time-hammer Cast boon or Aphrodite's boon that sucks enemies into your Casts, and you will quickly start to feel in control of the game's often chaotic encounters.
Use this with the Arcana card to increase damage to enemies in your casts and you will benefit even more. Even if you don't have anything to support it, this is invaluable in later levels that feature dozens of enemies on-screen at once.
1 Solar Ring
After Your Ω Cast Expires, Rapidly Deal Damage
Some say the Solar Ring is the strongest Apollo ability, and the most powerful boon Hades 2 players can get in general.
Others haven't had the chance to try it yet.
Jokes aside, Solar Ring is a must-pick because of just how much damage it can deal in such a short amount of time. When your Omega Cast expires, pillars of light rain down on the area of your Cast, dealing immense damage to everything inside.
As of the Early Access version of the game, this damage burst is ridiculous, able to take out all but the strongest of enemies and mini-bosses in a single go. It does require you to use your Omega Cast, which usually costs 15 Magick, but with good Magick regeneration boons and Cast cost reductions it's a small hurdle to cross.
Pick Solar Ring over all other Apollo options if it is available, and immediately start building into an Omega and Cast-oriented build to take full advantage of the Sun God's power.
