Hades 2 contains many interesting characters with unique personalities and stories that can charm and appeal to players. Of all the ones available in the sequel, a particular Shade called Dora contains qualities that some cannot help but compare to the previous game's Dusa. While both are far from having the best character designs in Hades 2 and its predecessor title, what they lack in looks they make up for in intrigue regarding who they are and what roles they serve.
While Hades 2 mainly focuses on Melinoe and her journey, some would rather concentrate their attention on the relevancy of the game's other characters. A good example would be Dora, the main character's roommate who strangely shares a few points of comparison with the previous game's Dusa. While both Shades play no major role in the plot they serve, their presence is what sparks interest. The two characters have comparable traits and roles that some can't help but be drawn to, making several consider they have a much more valuable significance in their respective stories than how their games portray them.
One Hades 2 Character Design Will Be More Important than All Others
Hades 2 has yet to reveal several characters from the first game, but one hero's depiction will be more important than the rest.
The Points of Interest Between Dora and Dusa
Aside from their names alluding to legendary entities such as Pandora and Medusa, other qualities are shared between Dora the phantom-shaped roommate, and Dusa the romanceable maid. Here are a few that can spark the interest of players:
- There is secrecy regarding the demise of both characters, with the game trying to make it vague as to who they were in their previous lives
- Each has subtle hints that point out who they are, with Dusa showing fear in front of Athena during a companion summon and Dora being mentioned casually by Hephaestus
- The two are disapproved or disliked by other characters, with Medusa's circumstances being her own doing while Dora's due to rumors or hearsay
- Both share the role of an NPC that shows support for their respective main characters' efforts, although Dusa in a more kindly manner as opposed to Dora's sarcastic approach
These interesting and compelling Shades of Hades 2 and the original title show that even the seemingly inconsequential characters have value. While the two may not seem as significant as the other cast members, they can be important enough figures that make players want to dive deeper into the lore of their respective games.
How Dora Could Become Even Greater Than Dusa
With the original Hades being complete and having no more significant changes planned, there are no more chances to expound on the character of Dusa. However, the same cannot be said for the sequel's Dora. There's no telling where the story of Hades 2 will go following its early access, but the time before the game's full release does allow the developers to provide further improvement on the game's characters. There's the likelihood that Melinoe's ghostly roommate could play a more significant role in the story, with the changes turning her from a sarcastic yet charming Shade into an entity that either helps or hinders the main character's progress.
Perhaps she could also become a romanceable partner like Dusa, with the difference being that Dora could unveil more about her vague past the higher the relationship status goes. With the right touches, the sequel's mischievous yet lethargic Shade could become a character whose intrigue surpasses the previous game's Gorgon maid and perhaps even rivals that of Hades' central figures. This is, of course, if Supergiant Games acknowledges her potential and allows her to show it.
The Gods of Hades 2 and those of its predecessor may have shown no love for Dusa and Dora, but several players have given them the attention they deserve. Even if some consider them unimportant characters, the qualities the two share and possess can enrich the lore of their respective games and make players want to dive deeper into the mythology.
