Hades 2: How to Go Up the Stairs (Sealed With Wards)

As players start to embark on runs in Hades 2, they are sure to notice that there are stairs that lead upward across from those that lead down into Erebus. Fans will not be able to go up straightaway, though, as interacting with the stairs reveals that they have been sealed with wards. For those players who have questions about how to bypass those wards and go up the stairs in Hades 2, this guide contains the answers that they seek.

Hades 2: How to Go Up Stairs

Players who hope to go upstairs must simply complete the Permeation of Witching-Wards incantation at the Cauldron. While fans who repeatedly make attempts at defeating Chronos, and are diligent about performing incantations in Hades 2, should unlock Permeation of Witching-Wards without putting much effort toward the endeavor, here are the steps that seem to lead to its appearance in the Cauldron:

Perform the Fated Intervention incantation.

To note, players will need to get their hands on a special Hades 2 reagent before they can perform the Permeation of Witching-Wards incantation. Specifically, fans will need Shadow, and that material can be created with the Shadow Extraction recipe that appears in the Cauldron's Alchemy tab. If a player has not yet earned that recipe, they should simply continue executing runs, performing incantations, and completing entries on the Fated List.

For those players who would like to know more about what they will encounter at the top of the ward-sealed stairs, the Surface is vast, featuring unique areas, bosses, Hades 2 characters, materials, and more. Fans will not be able to make much progress during their first visit to the Surface, though, as a curse will continually drain their Life. Fortunately, that curse can be counteracted by performing the Unraveling a Fateful Bond incantation, which players should find in the Cauldron upon returning to the Crossroads.

It is also worth noting that there are many incantations that make it easier to traverse the Surface. As examples, there are incantations that add opportunities for healing to to the area, while others make it possible for players to purchase useful items as they progress. This form of meta-progression in Hades 2 will be quite familiar to those fans who have spent some time clearing the areas beneath the Surface, as those Regions can also be made easier with the help of incantations.
