Supergiant Games has released a significant early access patch for Hades 2, addressing various bugs and quality-of-life issues. Additionally, this Hades 2 update incorporates numerous changes to enhance the gameplay experience, reflecting and responding to community feedback.
Hades 2 was released in early access on May 6. This sequel to the acclaimed Hades continues the mythological narrative with Melinoe, the sister of Zagreus, as the protagonist. Players will explore a deeper mythic world and battle the Titan of Time using dark sorcery. The early access version includes more content than the original game but is still under development, with plans for significant updates and community-driven improvements throughout the year.

In terms of general gameplay improvements, this Hades 2 early access patch allows players to encounter up to one additional Olympian each night and increases the likelihood of finding an extra Boon or major reward while in Erebus. The invulnerability duration after Hades 2’s Death Defiance effects activate has been increased, providing a bit more breathing room during intense battles. Rewards of Ash and Psyche have been improved in Oceanus and the Rift of Thessaly, and players can now press-and-hold to harvest repeatedly from Crescent Pick Outcroppings. Additionally, Toula will stay closer to players during encounters, especially in the Fields of Mourning, and Nemesis will no longer offer Death Defiance items if they are not needed.
The update also brings changes to Hades 2’s Nocturnal Arms and their abilities. The Witch's Staff's Special now knocks foes away but is slightly slower, while the Omega Special is faster. The Argent Skull's Omega Attack channels faster and hits a larger area. Each of these weapons and more have received tweaks to enhance their usability and strategic impact in combat. Keepsakes have also been updated, with Moon Beam (Selene) now providing an increased bonus to Path of Stars upgrades. Several Daedalus Hammer upgrades have been replaced with new, more effective versions. The changes to these upgrades aim to provide more dynamic and powerful options for players.
The update also includes numerous adjustments to Hades 2’s enemies and encounters. For instance, Chronos has received various fixes and adjustments to ensure fairer battles. Infernal Cerberus has seen minor adjustments to some attack patterns, and Eris' grenade attacks no longer bounce wildly.
