Mandrake is a main magical component in many magical stories and plots, and Hades 2 is no exception. With this rare item, Melinoe can upgrade tools or an Arcana Card, add more Shrines of Hermes to the surface, or gain access to Warding Circles, but this resource is not easy to obtain. Like Cattails, Mandrake does not grow in the open world, so the only way to get it is to grow it yourself.
Players must make plenty of runs before accessing soil plots, unlocking the right tool, and finding the proper seeds. Eventually, Mandrake seeds are only found in the second surface region, and this guide is here to help you along the way.

Where To Find Mandrake Seeds In Hades 2
As stated in the intro, the only way to get Mandrake in Hades 2 is to grow it by first collecting seeds. To accomplish this, you must go to the Rift of Thessaly, the second surface location, and use Silver Spade to get the seeds from the digging sites. However, here are all the key steps that will lead you to the desired seeds:
- Use Crescent Pick to get 10 Silver in Erebus and create a Silver Spade.
- Unlock the Permeation of Witching-Wards Incantation to get through the barrier and reach the surface.
- Die several times from a curse until Moros rewards you with the Unraveling a Fateful Bond Incantation recipe.
- Overcome the curse with a new magic and reach the City of Ephyra.
- Visit at least 6 points of interest in the city and destroy one spirit prison in each location.
- Exit through the previously blocked passage and fight the Polyphemus boss.
- After killing the boss, you can go to the pier where Rift of Thessaly begins.
Digging sites appear randomly anywhere in the location, so be careful not to miss the seeds.

How To Grow Mandrake In Hades 2
After collecting some seeds, you need to prepare soil plots in which the seeds can grow. You can collect just one yellow Moly flower in the Erebus expanse to unlock the Flourishing Soil Incantation to get the first two soil plots. Additionally, collecting 3 Lotus — or 1 Wheat and 1 Garlic — can unlock Rich Soil and Verdant Soil Incantations to get 4 more soil plots.
Your small vegetable garden is in the Crossroads area to the right of the Incantations Cauldron and Odysseus. So, sow the seeds and complete 17 encounters before your Mandrake matures.

How To Use Mandrake In Hades 2
Due to its properties, Mandrake's use in Hades 2 is quite extensive. First, you can spend three Mandrake Roots and five Moon Dust to upgrade the Origination Arcana Card and increase Melinoe's damage. Also, using Mandrake and some Bronze, you can improve your Silver Spade. Or you can sell this plant for 12 Bones apiece to the Wretched Broker.
But among other things, you can also use this ingredient in the following Incantations:
- Circles of Protection: x1 Moly, x1 Lotus, x1 Mandrake. With this ritual, you will unlock more Warding Circles in the Erebus area.
- Surge of Fresh Air: x2 Fate Fabric, x2 Garlic, x2 Mandrake. Unlocking this Incantation adds Shrines of Hermes between surface regions.
