On July 23, Supergiant Games revealed the Hades 2 Patch 11 notes, and stated that the new update was the last one before the game leaves early access later in 2025. The latest Hades 2 patch continued to make changes based on player feedback, and included adjustments to various boons and fixed some issues related to specific enemy behaviors.
Since its early access launch in May 2024, Hades 2 carried high expectations following the success of its predecessor. Between telling the story of Melinoe, the sister of Hades protagonist Zagreus, and balancing the various weapons and abilities at her disposal in her mission to face the Titan called Chronos, Hades 2 has seen several updates during its time as an early access game. During the game's first anniversary, Supergiant Games confirmed that Hades 2 was still on track to enter full release in 2025, though a precise launch date was still kept under wraps. Hades 2 will also launch on the Switch 2, alongside the previously announced Switch version, as a timed console exclusive to Nintendo's platforms.
Rumor: Nintendo Direct Happening Within the Next 9 Days
An insider with a proven track record still thinks there will be a Nintendo Direct livestream at some point before the end of July 2025.
Though a previous July update was slated to be the last early access patch for Hades 2 before its full launch later this year, the developers stated that more changes were in order. According to the Hades 2 Steam blog, Hades 2 made some changes based on player feedback and developer observations. As for general gameplay changes, Hades 2 converted the Zodiac Sand and Void Lens resources into Prestige ahead of the game's 1.0 launch. The change was made due to sequences surrounding the game's True Ending.
Several boons and blessings from various Olympians like Zeus and Apollo were buffed with increased damage, while some of Poseidon's boons saw reduced damage and area of effect range. Some duo boons that require two Olympians to activate, such as Poseidon and Hephaestus, were adjusted or replaced in Patch 11.
The aspects of Melinoe's Nocturnal arms were also altered in the latest Hades 2 patch. The Black Coat's hidden aspect, called the Aspect of Shiva, received a minor rework, as the Omega Special bounce count was increased, though destructive damage was reduced to compensate. The Umbral Flames also saw increased chances of dealing critical damage to the Aspect of Melinoe, while its Aspect of Eos has better tracking on the Daybreaker projectile.
With Hades 2 still scheduled for a 2025 release, the game's continued development shows no signs of slowing down. Only time will tell which changes will make it out of early access and into the game's 1.0 launch.
