The God of Sleep has been fast asleep in his chair since the start of the Hades 2 Early Access, and until now, there was no way to wake Hypnos up. With the full launch of the game into its 1.0 version, Melinoë can finally wake up Hypnos in Hades 2 by completing a series of specific Incantations.

By successfully waking up Hypnos, Hades 2 players will earn an Achievement and witness one of the funniest character interactions in the game. Step One: How to Complete End to Deepest Slumber Incantation
Like many Incantations in Hades 2, End to Deepest Slumber must be discovered by Melinoë and is not automatically unlocked at the start of the game. There are two prerequisites to unlock End To Deepest Slumber as an option in your Cauldron: you must try to gift Hypnos Nectar twice, and you must have acquired at least one Poppy.
Hades 2: Best Dionysus Boons, Ranked
In the Olympic Update for Hades 2, Dionysus finally returns as the god of partying, and offers players a choice of six Boons.
- Nectar can be acquired from various rooms throughout the underworld and surface, by purchasing them from the Shop with Bones, or via the Golden Apple To Nectar Incantation.
- Poppy Seeds can only be found in the Underworld zone Tartarus, the fourth and final zone before facing Chronos.
Once you meet these two requirements, talk to Hypnos every time you end up back in the Crossroads until Melinoë gets the idea to try this Incantation. Head back to the Cauldron (when Hecate isn't using it) to find the End To Deepest Slumber Incantation available.
How To Get Dream Vapors in Hades 2
The End To Deepest Slumber Incantation requires 3x Poppy, 2x Mandrake, and 1x Moly to create the Dream Vapors item.
- Harvest 3x Poppy Seeds in Tartarus, the final zone in the underworld route, and plant them in your Garden
- Harvest 2x Mandrake Seeds in the Rift of Thessaly, the second zone of the surface route, and plant them in your Garden
- Harvest 1x Moly within Erebus, the first zone on the underworld route
Do one more Run (or gift a special item to any NPC) to pass time and let your plants grow. When you get back to the Crossroads, harvest your Poppy and Mandrake (and make sure you have 1x Moly), then perform the End To Deepest Slumber Incantation.
Once you get your Dream Vapors, head over to Hypnos and gift it to him to enter the first layer of his subconscious. This is a representation of the House of Hades, where Hypnos can be found in his usual spot at the end of the entrance hall, still sleeping.
Step Two: How to Complete End to Dearest Slumber Incantation
After attempting to wake up Hypnos in Hades 2 for the first time, Melinoë will realize that she needs to find a way to go deeper still into the God of Sleep's dreams. To do this, you must unlock a stronger version of the Dream Vapors item.
Though you can complete the first step to wake up Hypnos in Hades 2 without unlocking the Surface route, you must unlock the way upward from the Crossroads to unlock the second Incantation.
After using the first Dream Vapors, head into the City of Ephyrea and look for the symbol of two open hands with a speech bubble from the many options in the city square. Enter this room, then talk to the witch Medea.
She will give Melinoë the recipe for an upgraded version of the Dream Vapors item via the End to Dearest Slumber Incantation. If Medea has more important information to give, or if it is your first time meeting her, she may not give Melinoë the next step.

Keep going to Ephyrea on Surface runs and try to talk to Medea until she gives Melinoë the idea for the End to Dearest Slumber Incantation.
To complete this Incantation, you must collect 1x Moly, 2x Mandrake, and 3x Poppy.
Gather these materials, perform the End to Dearest Slumber Incantation, then attempt to wake up Hypnos once again. Melinoë will plunge deeper into Hypnos' dreams, to a cuddly realm of enormous toys and plush, childlike pillows.
Give Hypnos the Dream Vapors once more within the dream – unfortunately, this does not quite work either.
Step Three: How to Complete End to Dumbest Slumber Incantation
The final step of the quest chain to wake up Hypnos in Hades 2 can be unlocked by talking to Medea once again, within the City of Ephyrea in the Surface route. She will give Melinoë the End to Dumbest Slumber Incantation, which increases the potency of the Dream Vapors to its absolute maximum.
To perform the End to Dumbest Slumber Incantation, Melinoë must collect 1x Shaderot, 2x Poppy, and 1x Soot.
- Shaderot can be collected in Tartarus, the fourth region of the Underworld route in Hades 2.
- Poppy Seeds can be collected with the shovel in Tartarus as well. Plant these back at the Crossroads to get Poppy after some time.

To get Soot for the End to Dumbest Slumber Incantation, Hades 2 players must first complete the game.
- Roll credits, then return to the Crossroads and enter the Underworld route once more.
- Reach Tartarus and speak with Hades, who can still be found in this final region of the Underworld even after being freed from Chronos.
After completing the God of the Dead's first dialogue after beating the game, you will receive 1x Soot from the House of Hades.
Bring this back to the Cauldron, perform the final Incantation to wake up Hypnos, then delve once more into the sleeping God's dreams.
What Happens When You Wake Hypnos In Hades 2?
Gift Hypnos the fully-upgraded Dream Vapors in the Crossroads to enter the first layer of his dreams, which resembles the House of Hades. Gift him the Dream Vapors again here to enter the second, more cuddly layer of his dreams.
Reach Hypnos and use the Dream Vapors once more, and Melinoë will be transported into the deepest level of the God of Sleep's mind.
Hades 2: All Romanceable Characters
The original Hades had such intriguing, unique romances. Hades 2 continues this tradition with its own twist on love for Melinoe.
In an area that looks like a blank piece of parchment with floating white scribbles, walk to the top-right to find Hypnos once more – somehow, even in this deepest level of his consciousness, still asleep.
Talk to Hypnos here, and Melinoë will find a note that says, "Have you tried saying wake up?" When Melinoë says "wake up" while reading this note, Hypnos will yawn, then the screen will fade to black as the God of Sleep suddenly wakes up with a "WAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"
Melinoë will reappear in the Crossroads, then say "wake up" to Hypnos back in reality. Finally, Melinoë will wake up Hypnos for real as the God of Sleep immediately falls back into his old routine of welcoming guests to the House of Hades. Melinoë will tell him that he has been asleep for a long, long time.
Without spoiling too many details about the end to Hypnos' slumber, his reaction to suddenly waking up is one of the funniest moments in the game – especially for longtime Hades fans who know Hypnos from the first game.
After Hypnos returns to the House of Hades to resume his role welcoming shades to the Underworld, you will earn the "Soundest of Sleepers" achievement and complete the Fated Prophecy to wake up Hypnos in Hades 2.
