Is Zagreus in Hades 2?
Does Zagreus Appear in Hades 2?
For the entirety of the Hades 2 Early Access, Zagreus and the other members of the House of Hades were sealed away by the titan Chronos somewhere out of sight – and inaccessible to Melinoë. However, with the game's launch into 1.0, players can finally progress to the room beyond the main chamber of the House of Hades after defeating Chronos.
During the EA, going into what used to be Zagreus' room in the original Hades would only yield one of many EA-exclusive, comical game-over screens. Players were unable to go into Zagreus' room and discover what was in the room after Chronos.
As it turns out, the fan theories turned out to be correct – this room is indeed the bedroom of Zagreus, the protagonist of Hades and Melinoë's brother. In here, Melinoë will be able to find Zagreus in Hades 2 by using an Incantation in a place with a strong connection to Zagreus that stretches across time and the Mirror of Night.
Where to Find Zagreus in Hades 2
How to Get to Zagreus Location in Hades 2
To find Zagreus, Hades 2 players must first defeat Chronos, pick up his Zodiac Sand, and then progress into the room to the right of the boss arena. You will enter the chambers of Prince Zagreus, just as it looked in the original Hades, but a bit more unkempt and disorderly than usual.
Walk up to his bed (on the right side) to find a special "Dream?" Interaction.
Press the right bumper to confirm, then watch as Melinoë casts a special Incantation to "descend into the abyss of the subconscious". After turning into a ghostly visage of herself, float over to the Mirror of Night in the top-left side of the room. Interact with the mirror, and Melinoë will float through it onto an astral path that exists between times.
Continue along the path, and you will eventually hear a familiar voice. At the end of the path, you will finally find Zagreus and be able to interact with him via his own time's Mirror of Night. This is a version of Zagreus from the past, before Chronos took over and banished the members of the House of Hades.
Zag doesn't believe Melinoë is his sister at first. To unlock more dialogue with Zagreus and meet with him again, you will have to repeatedly defeat Chronos to get back to his bedchambers. As you continue to reach Zagreus and progress his dialogue, Melinoë will slowly convince him of a plan to eradicate Chronos once and for all.
Hades 2: All Animal Companions (& How To Unlock, Upgrade, And Use Them)
Gaining a Familiar in Hades 2 is a game changing accomplishment that can help you through your treacherous journey.
You must defeat Chronos at least five times after meeting Zag in Hades 2 for the first time to get a specific key item, which is required to bring a final end to both Typhon and Chronos.
Does Zagreus Show Up Again After Beating Hades 2?
After you complete the game and free the members of the House of Hades, Zagreus actually shows up again in regular playthroughs. Interact with the Infernal Contract that randomly spawns at Charon's shop (which only unlocks after seeing credits), and you will be transported to Elysium to face your brother in a battle to the death at the Colosseum.
Beating Zagreus here unlocks the "Elysian Glory" achievement in Hades 2 and unlocks one extra item at all future Charon shops that Melinoë can take for free. If you beat Zagreus twice in Elysium, he will give you his Calling Card - a Keepsake that grants Melinoë the ability to Rarify Boons if you do not pick up any dice or take God-favored Keepsakes in your run.
