Players can find plenty of mods for Half-Life on popular websites like ModDB, which includes thousands of fully released and in-development mods for the game. Since Half-Life is an older game, some of the mods might be out of date. This is why it is advised for players to always check whether the mod is compatible with their operating system and version of Half-Life.

After they’ve downloaded the desired mod, players can install it. They need to follow the steps mentioned on the mod’s website to install the mod correctly. If the mod is in a compressed file, players will need to unzip it and extract the files.

Next, they need to move the mod files to a folder in any of the following directories depending on their operating system.

  • Windows: Program Files/Steam/SteamApps/common/Half-Life/
  • iOS: Users/Username/Library/ApplicationSupport/Steam/SteamApps/common/Half-Life/
  • Penguin OS: ~/.local/share/Steam/SteamApps/common/Half-Life

Players can run the game at least once before installing any mods for the directory to appear when the mod’s installer wizard opens up.

After they’ve installed the mod files in their own folder inside the directory for Half-Life, players need to restart Steam. Once Steam has been restarted, players will be able to see the mod in their game library.

To uninstall any mods, players should go directly to the Half-Life directory and delete the folder containing the mod file. Afterward, simply restart Steam and the mod will no longer appear in the games library.
