Halo: Campaign Evolved is likely to offer some special features on PlayStation 5 that the Xbox version of the game won't be able to match. A minute detail on the game's PlayStation Store page implies that Halo: Campaign Evolved will be taking advantage of the PS5's DualSense controller's capabilities, offering up some additional immersive elements.
Xbox and PlayStation have had a decades-long competition for console superiority, which dates back to the debut of the first Xbox 2001. With FPS hit Halo: Combat Evolved serving as the brand's first massive success, gamers were stunned when it was officially announced in late October that Halo: Campaign Evolved would be coming to PS5, marking the first time a Halo game will appear at on a PlayStation console, and at launch, no less.
Most Exciting Features Confirmed For Halo: Campaign Evolved
Halo: Campaign Evolved is bringing the 2001 classic Halo: Combat Evolved to PlayStation, Xbox, and PC with a remake that adds exciting new features!
Halo: Campaign Evolved Will Take Advantage of PS5 DualSense Features
Now, the official page for the upcoming has been listed on the PlayStation Store, and while it's not available for pre-order yet, PlayStation fans are able to add it to their wish lists. While the bulk of the online shop's listing for the game is identical to its Microsoft Store counterpart, detailing the Halo: Combat Evolved remake's features, Push Square made note of a minute detail that may set the PlayStation 5 version apart from the competition. Specifically, it states that the game will support certain DualSense controller features, specifically pointing out "Vibration function and trigger effect supported." While Xbox Series X|S controllers also include both of these features, the PS5's signature controller is widely considered the superior of the two, offering immersive features that Xbox can't match.
While the store page doesn't specifically point out these differences, the PS5 DualSense controller's adaptive triggers feature stands out as a clear advantage, assuming support is being included to fully utilize it. Since the release of the Xbox One in 2013, Xbox controllers have featured Impulse Trigger technology, which utilizes two internal vibration-generating motors that developers can use to provide a certain amount of feedback when players press down on either of the triggers, allowing them to simulate experiences like firing a gun. However, PlayStation's Adaptive Triggers can provide an even deeper level of immersion, with features that include variable degrees of resistance against the player's fingers and a greater amount of control for developers to simulate different experiences based on in-game situations.
The store pages for both brands also point out certain details of the game, including that it will have full crossplay and cross-progression. While there will be no competitive multiplayer in Halo: Campaign Evolved, the crossplay option means teams of up to four will be able to take on the classic campaign and its three new prequel missions simultaneously, regardless of which platform they're using.
